Actor Daniel Craig assumes the role formerly occupied by such screen greats as Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Timothy Dalton to set out on the character's very first 007 mission. James Bond has earned his "00" status by masterfully executing a pair of death-defying professional assassinations. Now assigned the task of traveling to Madagascar to spy on notorious terrorist Mollaka (Sebastien Foucan) for his maiden voyage as a 007 agent, Bond boldly goes against MI6 policy to launch an independent investigation that finds him traversing the Bahamas in search of Mollaka's notoriously elusive terror cell. Subsequently led into the company of the mysterious Dimitrios (Simon Abkarian) and his exotic girlfriend, Solange (Caterina Murino), Bond soon realizes that he is closer than ever to locating well-guarded terrorist financier Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), the man who has personally bankrolled some of the most prevalent terrorist organizations on the planet. When Bond learns that Le Chiffre is planning to partake in an upcoming high-stakes poker game to be played at Montenegro's Le Casino Royale and use the winnings to establish his financial grip on the globe, M (Judi Dench) assigns beguiling agent Vesper (Eva Green) the task of watching over the fledgling agent as he plays against Le Chiffre in a covert attempt to destroy the nefarious gambler's well-established monetary stronghold in the underworld once and for all. Bond will need more than his legendary gambling skills in order to win this dangerous game, though, and after allying himself with local MI6 field agent Mathis (Giancarlo Giannini) and CIA operative Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright), the endlessly suave super-spy puts on his poker face for a high-stakes game of cards in which the stakes are not measured in dollars, but human lives. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I can't say I'm a big fan of the 007 series but this film brought me around. Sean Connery will always be Bond to me but this fits the bill. If you lost intrest during the Roger Moore years and ran for the hills with Timothy Dalton you'll find this a welcome comeback.

This movie really seemed like a cliche of itself. I found myself ripping the plot apart as unlikely and in some parts, impossible. It just wasn't as clever as a bond movie should be. If you're looking for action and don't care about the credibility of the plot, this one's for you. Otherwise, it stinks.

This is simply one of the best bonds I have seen. I was very skeptical at first when I found out that Daniel Craig plays bond but after I saw the move I become a huge fun. He was made for that role.

This movie is about Bond, James Bond, going to Casino Royale in motreal to play poker. Before that he needs to get his 00 status so he needs to kill people. But when he tries to kill a terroist he goes against MI6 rules. So he gets in trouble. M tells him to lay low for a while but he doesn't. He goes to the bahamas and find more information. He gets good information and sends it to M and she approves of it. So she sends him to montreal at Casino Royale to play poker against LaChiffre. He gets him but LaChiffre gets him first. That is all watch the movie its pretty good its action packed and you'll love it.

A very well-played movie. Has all the essentials Bond needs - the initial Bond girl who dies mid-way through the film, flashy cars (Aston Martin), cool gadgets, a sexy bond girl (Eva Green, though I think she needs a little meat on her bones), and a seemingly impossible mission. He pisses off M, again, as always, risks his life, almost dies, saves the world. The only difference between this movie and the others? Well, for one, Daniel Craig is an extraordinary Bond, though I think he took too much from Peirce Brosnan and not enough from Sean Connery. Secondly, it's much darker - Bond undergoes much more excruciating pains, but in the end he finds a new side of himself. Touching. But it's not the end; it never is.

I've never been a big fan of 007. I don't know what it is about the character or the story line, but it just never really grabbed me the way Jason Bourne has. With that said Casino Royal was not a bad movie. It starts off strong with a lot of action and a great chase scene. Then the story line kicks in and once again I find myself in the middle of a 007 movie feeling a little disinterested and longing for more action. Unless it's done really well, I don't like films that remind me of Hollywood, and that's what this movie does. You get your Hollywood action scenes and throw in a little female exposure and BAAAAMMMM, you got a movie. Final Conclusion: Don't go out of your way to watch this movie. It has some parts that shine, but overall it's slow for an action film, unnecessary sensuality (typical hollywood), and it's just not very special.

This movie was truly a let down. The plot was weak and the acting matched. I can't remember the last time I was this dissappointed.

Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) SHOULD have been kept alive somehow, and vanished ... so that the "Solace" sequel could've been 007's version of "Taken." Big, big mistake killing-off this beauty. And "Solace" provided none.
