With a story rooted in the classic commedia dell'arte form, this classic, comical tale of an old fool cured of his eagerness to wed a beautiful but devilish young woman is highlighted by the music of Gaetano Donizetti. With songs that transcend the traditional character types to truly bring the characters to life, this performance filmed live at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari in February of 2002 is sure to please fans looking for a lighthearted and humorous approach to opera. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
