Island Girl Dance Fitness Workout for Beginners: Hula Abs & Buns (2004)
Member Rating:
Filmed amidst a lush Hawaiian backdrop, this video offers traditional hula instruction with a particular emphasis on its aerobic and strengthening benefits. The traditional Polynesian dance encourages the combination of cardiovascular exercises with small, controlled movements throughout the buttocks and abdominal region; weight loss and increased muscle tone are the productions promised benefits. Other videos in the series include Island Girl Dance Fitness Workout for Beginners: Tahitian Dance and Island Girl Dance Fitness Workout for Beginners: Cardio Hula. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

I absolutely love Island Girl workouts with Kili and her girls. This workout is very challenging and fun and only about 30 min. Kili and her girls look amazing in their tight skimpy island wear. For me that is very motivating although for some that may be too much (intimidating) to follow. It takes me about 5 tries to get workout routines down but I am not uptight about the steps. I appreciate that they come from a native hawaiian background and are sharing a part of their cultural heritage with the masses.

This video is interesting, entertaining and a great challenging workout. The beautiful Hawaiian landscape in the background adds a lot of ambience, and almost convinces me that I am on vacation taking a native dance class. Don't expect to get everyting the first try. Just do your best to emulate the moves, and eventually you will get it. I am still working on putting the arm motions with the dance moves. The workout value of this video is not lessened if you can't do it perfectly. It is like dancing squats, which are the best for buns & thighs. Also check out her Hula Cardio video.
