South Korean filmmaker Yun Jae-yeon directs the thriller Yeogo Goedam 3: Yeowoo Gyedan (Wishing Stairs), the third in a series of horrific tales set in all-girl schools (the other two being Whispering Corridors and Memento Mori). The story involves several teenage ballet students at a remote boarding school for fine arts. The staircase leading up to their dormitory has 28 stairs. Supposedly, a certain spirit will grant your wish if the 29th step appears. Wealthy and outgoing Kim So-heui (Park Han-byeol) is best friends with the more reserved Yun Jin-seong (Song Ji-hyo). Right before an important competition, someone puts glass shards into So-heui's ballet shoes and she later dies. After that, many other frightening events start to happen at the school. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi
This movie has a unique feel to it. It brings you in and shuts the door behind you. Although it is a little formulaic, the mood it sets makes it a new experience. Has elements of teen angst without running it into the ground. Shows friendships, betrayals, revenge, and desperation. Great on a Friday night or an overcast afternoon.
This movie has its uniqueness which is enough to make your hair stand on the back of your neck. I know I turned my head a couple of times in my bedroom and it was daytime. I had a little problem at times telling the long black hair females apart but I must say it was nicely done because it lets you see what had to be done to fit in. I recommend it!! A nicely done horror movie I can really appreciate, seeing how now adays noone knows what it is to make a horror movie.
Is there such a thing as a beautiful horror movie? I think this one is beautifully done. Scary as can be. Acting is over yhe top. Don't miss this movie. Jim M.
This movie was really, really good !
Psychological-horror, very creepy.
The actresses are very pretty and the acting was really good. The plot is very interesting and the way it starts to develop towards the end, will keep you tied to your seat.
I love Asian Horror Films, but this is by far the worst I have ever seen! It was somewhat interesting in the beginning, but the character who was once fat is so annoying to look at. So I give this movie what it deserves a half a star.
Yun Jae-yeon takes a little while to get into the suspense of this mildly disturbing yet interesting movie. I would have enjoyed it more had I been able to tell apart the suprisingly similar looking long balck-haired, teen girls in school uniforms although I have to admit attention to detail is not my thing.
This was your typical Korean style horror movie with elements of Ju-On and Ringu in it. I would suggest 2 viewings, because you probably won't "get it" at first.
