A man begins monkeying around with his new farm with hilarious results in this comedy for the whole family. American Hank Dussard (Dean Jones) inherits an olive plantation in a small French village after his uncle passes away. Hank soon gets a crash course in the expense of hiring pickers for the olive harvest from Father Sylvain (Maurice Chevalier), the local priest. Hoping to cut expenses, Hank buys four monkeys, and teaches them how to pick olives. While the plan looks good on paper, it doesn't go over well with the town's farm laborers -- who threaten a strike if Hank doesn't get rid of his new help. Hank also has troubles with his new work force when he discovers that his monkeys are all female, and the arrival of a male chimpanzee takes their minds off the olives. Monkeys, Go Home! features Maurice Chevalier in his final screen role; the supporting cast also includes Yvette Mimieux and Jules Munshin. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I saw this movie as a child. My daughter and I have rented this movie multiple times. Although set in an era unlike today's culture, one can find a refreshing old fashioned sense of family fun. Throughout the film we are entertained with comedy, romance, jealousy, and animal interaction; these are intertwined with the character's move to a foreign country, trying to fit in, and learn a new career. Dean Jones is absolutely wonderful. Good, clean fun. No need to set parental restrictions. All ages will enjoy this movie. NC from North Carolina

This movie is possibly our family's all time favorite! The story is just delightful from a great performance by Dean Jones (an early Disney favorite) to flawless french accents! Set in France about 50 years ago this story of a young mans entrepreneurial spirit and American ingenuity set against the beautiful olive groves of rural France warm the heart and delight children and adults alike! Our family has watched this movie again and again and hum the happy tune that is the theme song weaved throughout the story now as though it were our own! We highly recommend this wonderful film to every young family! Curl up with some pop corn and your kids and be prepared to smile alot!

I watched this for the first time the other night and liked it very much. Wonderful scenery along with the great supporting actors make this a family hit. Very silly and fun. The way a G movie should be. No "adult" humor hidden in the script. And the chimps are adorable.
