American independent filmmaker Paul F. Ryan makes his feature debut with the psychological drama Home Room. The students of Valley High School try to get on with their lives in the aftermath of a traumatic school shooting in which nine students were killed. Even though the perpetrator is dead, the townspeople still want to find some answers. Detective Martin Van Zandt (Victor Garber) decides to interrogate high school student Alicia Browning (Busy Philipps), who was present during the attack. Because of her cynical attitude and dark fashion choices, she is viewed as a possible threat. Principal Robbins (James Pickens Jr.) sentences her to regular hospital visits with the pretty and popular Deanna Cartwright (Erika Christensen), who was seriously injured in the attack. Alicia and Deanna overcome their initial differences and develop a nurturing friendship with psychological help from Dr. Hollander (Holland Taylor). ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi

A gripping movie of teenage opposites. Slow paced at first but the viewer becomes engrossed by the story. Also gives differing viewpoints in the manner in which evidence should be interpreted. A surprising ending, emotions expressed with tear jerking honestly.

I don't really rate any movie a five star but this came so close for me. I loved how it unfolded and i was shocked at the end but a good shocked like "wow, now i understand". It's deff. a must see, but it was more than that because these girls, especially Bussy Phillips charcter. There really is no words to describe this movie. I have got to look up more movies with those actresses in it!

I agree it was a slow start, but I can really empathize with the characters and I thought there was great acting. Plus, any movie that makes me cry at the end get lots of stars!! Now, it was that it was a sad ending....I just could connect with Alicia and understood what she was feeling.

I think overall the movie was pretty good. It was hard to get into at first but after a while you start putting things together. Not bad.

This was a heart touching movie. The acting was good. The story was very good and is something to take to heart the action and affects were not so good.

This is a film that got no appreciation! This is an awakening on film. Two teens who experienced a high school shooting yet come out of it on different ends of emotion. This film takes you through not only the main story of the shooting aftermath but also the teenage issues that so many people try to ignore. I HIGHLY recommend this film. It will make you feel as though you experienced these emotions first hand. It will leave you with a feeling you may not be able to explain.

Absolutely love this this movie. I stumbled upon it after watching Erika Christensen in The Sisters. Wish I culd have seen it years ago. Very powerful!
