The effects were very well done, and the story line (suprisingly) wasn't too bad. I wasn't very impressed with the original "dawn of the Dead" due to the bad (witch I'm sure were great back in the 70's) effects. Definately a movie to watch as soon as you can get your hands on it. Read More I was certain that I would hate this movie, because I love the original so much. Isn't it everyone's dream to be locked safely in a mall with a gunshop and a hotwired VW Scirocco during apocolyptic chaos outside? Oh, maybe it's just me then and I was upset when the only credit I saw was "based on a screenplay by George Romero" and not "based on ultimate orginal, the coolest zombie plot ever created by the minister of sinister, George A. Romero". This movie has done many things worth praise for certain. It has brought this story up to the current technological advances available in the movie industry and it has opened awareness to a newer generation of the older story that they might not have cared for because of it's antiquated release date. So here this converted idealist says that Dawn of the Dead (2004) is definetely worth renting. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

This movie is NOT the famous George Romero-directed release of 1979--it's a remake. While that doesn't necessarily make it bad movie per se (it was only average to me), Blockbuster really needs to differentiate its movie titles. I've already rented several foreign language movies by accident simply because the main language of a movie is not listed. Just remember to double-check and even cross check with sources like with rottentomatoes.com or movies.com if you're unsure. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

No plot, no good dialogue, no twists, just one bad movie. The movie basically just shoved the idea zombies in your face and didn't explain anything about them. Mekhi Phifer does such a bad job in this movie and the rest of the cast was a joke too. It didn't even have a good ending, but I am glad that it finally did end.
