A hot young celebrity discovers fame can be a toxic substance in this independent drama. Gray Evans (Giovanni Ribisi) is a successful actor in his late twenties who would seem to have it made. Gray is married to an attractive actress with a solid career of her own, Mia Lang (Franka Potente), he's got several projects in the works, he gets lots of fan mail, and he gets to hang out at ritzy parties with his heroes. But Gray is far from happy; his marriage to Mia is starting to fall apart, and he's being driven to distraction by his obsessive belief that a fan is stalking him. As Gray struggles to separate his delusions from reality, he finds himself indulging in a bit of stalking of his own, as he begins following John (Joshua Jackson), a clerk at a video store who is a big fan of his movies. The way Gray sees it, John is happier than he is, John's pretty wife, Jane (Marisa Coughlan), loves him while Mia doesn't care for him any more, and all in all he'd just as soon trade lives with the guy. In the midst of all this, Gray has recently run into Shana (Christina Ricci), a former flame he'd like to reconnect with. Directed by actor Adam Goldberg, I Love Your Work features a number of major stars in cameo roles, including Vince Vaughn, Jason Lee, and Elvis Costello. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

What the .... Even after watching this movie with Director and Actor commentaries, I still have no idea about such things as the meaning of the number "4" , the red windbreaker, etc. Depending on how you wanted to look at this movie, I suppose you can find a story - maybe even more -- but I did not enjoy it in most aspects. I found this too profound to be "enjoyed as entertainment."

This is a shame. The company has produced some great DVD movies and has a talented bunch of actors. This particular one is one of the most hodge podge, self indulgent, wandering and difficult to follow pieces I have seen in years. By the halfway point I was wondering what was happening. By the end I did not care. Good camera work, good actors, a truly terrible story.

There are so many things to like about this movie. The quirky music, the wonderful cast, the great storyline, the art direction... they all work together to make a great little flick. The best part of it, however, is Giovanni Ribisi himself. Like a young Paul Giamatti, he's highly underrated. Just a tiny glance or tear in his eye tell you everything you need to know about his character, even if there were no words. This movie is rich in symbolism, reminiscent of "Citizen Kane", with the use of mirrors, not that any movie can really compare with "Kane". It's like the little arthouse movie that could. Adam Goldberg's love for this story just oozes from the screen. I can't recommend this movie enough!

There is some intelligence, humor and satirical wit buried in Adam Goldberg's I LOVE YOUR WORK (he directed and co-wrote the screenplay & music, so responsibility beckons), but this would-be auteur just doesn't have the filmmaking skills to unearth it. I suspect even those in the movie business may grow a bit tired of the not-so-new ways that the addled actor, played by Giovanni Ribisi, finds to fall apart (and that the screenplay & direction use to track this decline). The cast that Goldberg and his casting director have assembled is top-notch (another chance to see the marvelous Judy Greer!), and the look of the film is interesting (different color palettes for differing realities and time frames). In fact, "I Love Your Work" possesses both the clever visuals and attenuated length of Goldberg's 1998 "Scotch & Milk." So what? Not much.

As I was watching this movie I was very taken by the storyline. You never see the actors aspect of stardom in films. I had to take a minute to process the fact that they must worry daily about their own wellbeing. When he starts to focus on what people(magazines) are saying about him and his marriage you feel his rage and doubt with his stardom. Doing something he loves for a living but at the same time dreading it. The flashbacks (this is when you see Christina Ricci) from before he made it are confusing but if you really pay attention he's dealing with regret and loss. The need to be normal again when no one cared or made up stories about his life. Dealing with paranoia and furthering himself into believing he's being stalked by an awkward looking man( Jason Lee). By making friends with a normal couple he becomes obsessed with their lives. The twist to this movie is very understandable and overall I enjoyed this movie. Check it out if you enjoy movie that aren't cookie cut outs.

I agree with the last review that the different lighting for different time frames was great. But I think that was the best part of the movie - other than the fact that Vince Vaugh made an appearance!! I thought the story line was very workable but the finished product lacked a lot!! Maybe this was more of an artsy movie - not for the average movie goer.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It was hard to follow the story, the characters and the ending made no sense whatsoever. I do not recommend this, don't even waste your time watching this low budge, crappy movie... also, you have to keep adjusting the volumn, the whole movie was a waste of time.

I need the Cliff's Notes for this thing. I thought I was fine until about 50 minutes into it. I assumed the person was paranoid about being stalked and then he starts stalking someone else...thinking about his ex-girlfriend...uhhh....??
