Midnight Madness (1980)
Member Rating:
The crux of this limited, juvenile comedy is a complex game that begins at midnight and ends by morning. Of main interest is the fact that a young Michael J. Fox plays one of the students involved in the game. Leon (Alan Solomon) has spent a year creating the game and practically needs that long to convince his fellow students to play it. Eventually he wins out, and the various teams of classic stereotypes -- the nerd, the well-groomed hero, the obnoxious sorority sister, the easily duped freshman, and others -- all converge on Los Angeles at midnight. Their treks take them through the Griffith Observatory which because of those odd hours astronomers keep, could conceivably be open. Other locales are interestingly open too, apparently Los Angeles never sleeps. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

Hey I am sorry for all of you who don't know a good movie when you see one. I understand that it is an old one and that the acting could have been better, but the story line was great. I seen this movie over20 years ago and it has always stayed in my head as if i saw it yesterday. I just loved it back then and still do to this day. As a child watching it was exciting and fun. I now have the privliage to show it to my children and laugh along with them to something I experianced as a child. I give this movie a great BIG thumbs up!

Yes, a "B" movie, thats what its all about. All I can say is see the cast in this movie and find out where they went from here. Micheal J Fox - Back To The Future David Naughton - American Werefolf In London Eddie Deezen - Well known for Cartoon Voiceovers Paul Reubens - Pee Wee! The guy from Sienfeld....Forgot his name? If you have see any 2005 "Robot Chicken" episodes on Cartoon Network they even spoofed this movie a few times. The movie is a huge college scavenger hunt with lots of "character" or stereo-typing of groups. The hunt for the clues are entertaining. Again, I grew up with this movie and its fun to watch with a bunch of friends. The sex jokes are dorky but fun. The race around California [I dont know what city?] you see a lot of POP culture. Even an old video arcade! Check it out...Enjoy it!

I agree with Jazmin- I remember watching this when I was little and it has stayed with me also. Don't know why exactly, I just remember finding it exciting and funny. I'll never forgot the "melons" clue! I think my husband will enjoy it too! I looked for it a few ago and couldn't find it so I'm happy to be able to watch it . I think almost everyone can relate to it cause don't we all want to go on a mystery chase at least once? It founds fun to me!

This movie may have been around for years, however,It is today as still a comedy as it was when it first came on the screen. Their is a movie very much like this one named Scavenger Hunt.In with contestants must get items, and return them to their goles. If you have not seen that one I would sugest watching it as well as Midnigh Madness.

Great Movie!! Used to watch on HBO every day it seemed like. I had forgotten the name of it so I was so glad when I finally found it again. Now it's time for my kids to check it out.

I must say, this movie had a lot nostalgic value but was a difficult watch. Should have left it in childhood memories.

It is a freaking "B" flick, it's not oscar material here. People need to learn the difference. If you want oscar rent something else. If your looking for something from the 80's that is kind of goofy this will pass a hour or two.

My 12 year old liked it "okay" because of the clues to decipher but I've seen better acting in a 4th grade school play. Everything about this movie says "Cheap" and "Poorly written". And Whew! The acting was baaaaddddddd!!! Even the performance by Michael J. Fox (as a young kid, long before he hit "the big time") was really bad. I can't imagine what the director was doing, if this movie even had a director. Silly, crude humor; lots of plot holes, quite a bit of sexual inuendo/content and references to beer drinking, and bad dialogue. Again, the only fun part was the idea of the "game" the characters are given and trying to help figure out the clues. Personally, I'd burn the script and if I were Michael J. Fox, I'd try to find every copy of this film and destroy them.
