James Cox directs the sleazy Hollywood murder tale Wonderland, starring Val Kilmer as legendary porn star John Holmes. Using a non-linear plot structure, the film explores different perspectives of the quadruple homicide that occurred on July 1, 1981, in the Hollywood Hills. At the lowest point of his career and the height of his drug addiction, Holmes was implicated in the murders of the Wonderland gang: Ron Launius (Josh Lucas), Billy Deverell (Tim Blake Nelson), Barbara Richardson (Natasha Gregson Wagner), and Joy Miller (Janeane Garofalo). Launius' wife, Susan (Christina Applegate), was the only survivor. Led by Detective Sam Nico (Ted Levine), the police investigation reveals a dark criminal underworld surrounding Holmes, his disapproving wife, Sharon (Lisa Kudrow), and his innocent teenage girlfriend, Dawn Schiller (Kate Bosworth). Eric Bogosian stars as notorious Hollywood nightclub owner Eddie Nash. Wonderland premiered at the 2003 Toronto Film Festival. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi

Saw this with an accompanying DVD, Wadd: The Life & Times of John C. Holmes --http://imdb.com/title/tt0207195/ Both were well done, entertaining and informative. A very sleazy time and a sad tale about the once great porn king, and how his decent into drugs ruined his career and his life. Try to get Wadd along with Wonderland. They complement each other very well.

This movie has a very dirty, gritty feel to it and for good reason as it's about sexx, drugs, and murder. Val Kilmer plays John Holmes as a total scumbag which is the point. And the supporting cast is also solid. This movie didn't get as much attention as it deserves. Tell a friend.

Loved the fact that Kate Bosworth gets screwed in less than 5 minutes when the movie starts. Val Kilmer makes a good junkie porn director. Besides all that movie is wuite boring.

...this is a very bad joke...Holmes by and large followed the rules regarding AIDS although there were no clear cut answers..ths is pure ganster trash and doesn't deserve to be rated above it.

I agree with the many who posted their review of this movie; Val Kilmer and crew obviously made sure their characters were as real as if you were there with them drinking, smoking and doping every step of the way. I groaned when the movie concluded but, I gotta tell ya, I was relieved, too. If it's possible to get a "drug hangover" from this movie then I had one. Insane.

I had never heard of this movie until it came out on video. I like Kilmer so I rented it. I would strongly agree with the positive reviews. Great acting and good story line. Was not disapointed .

A little rough to watch at times due to content/subject but VERY well done. Val Kilmer, as usual is superb. Not a feel good movie but worth watching if the synopis appeals to you. All the acting is very good and the story is interestingly told-not just predictable. Loved kudrow's portrayal of Sharon. No porn shots. -It's not directly about that part of his life. It's about the rest of his life, his drug addiction and the murders that took place.. If you see it and like it, I highly recommend "Blow".

Val Kilmer did it again in playing a great part first the Doors now this movie, I thought it was outstanding it's too bad what happened the killing scene was gorey but good Val did an excellent job in portraying his character & being forced to bludgeoned Josh Lucas's character even though the gang was bad, I think Holmes didn't really want to take part in the killings but the movie kept you going had to watch it had alot of action & just too bad that it happened that way . I'm thinking about buying it for a rainy day. Good job Val! Sue M.
