Heart: Alive in Seattle (2002)
Member Rating:
Under the guidance of sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, Heart achieved major album success in the '70s, and then softened their approach enough to score some hit singles in the '80s. This video captures the band performing before an adoring crowd in Seattle, the band's and the sisters' hometown. The group performs hits from every phase of their career including "Crazy on You," "Barracuda," "Alone," and "These Dreams." ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

Actually the sisters gave solid performances...their lead guitarist, however, played like he was on ludes...he detracted from the overall performance of everyone else, nor did he seemingly have the ability to improvise a bit & add something abstract to the show...his licks were predictable & tres boring. Heart...get a new lead guitarist!

Yes they're older. Yes, Anne is heavier than I'd like to remember her. But come on - the voices are still there, and listening to this concert took me back to the days of cruising in my 1970 Dodge Dart with my 8 track sound system blasting away! I was happy to see this concert DVD after seeing the disappointing performance of Anne and Nancy on the 2008 Idol Gives Back special. Fergi cleaned Anne's clock! But I digress. Two stand out songs on this DVD belonged to Led Zeppelin - but the Wilson sisters made them their own. You won't be disappointed with this DVD.

While I do enjoy the talents of the Wilson sisters, I had a hard time watching Ann perform as she looks like Rosanne Barr and tried to strut around all sexy-like, but with an extra 50-100 pounds, it just looked silly. There was something missing musically, too. Not sure if it was the drummer or the guitar player, but something was definitely amiss here. No crispness... Glad to see the gals still rockin' after all of these years, though.

Unfortunately time has taken it's toll on the voices of these ladies and it is apparent during this concert. They should have stopped a long time ago. Too bad I really like Heart and their music. The picture and sound on this HD DVD are not bad though.
