Perhaps the most highly anticipated film of 2003, Kill Bill Vol. 1 marked the return of renowned filmmaker Quentin Tarantino after a six-year hiatus. Re-teaming the director with Uma Thurman for the first time since 1994's Pulp Fiction, the film was originally the first half of what was to be a three-hour-plus movie before being split into two films. Thurman stars as The Bride, one-fifth of a team of assassins called DiVAS. When The Bride opts to leave the outfit for a life of marital bliss, it doesn't sit well with her boss, Bill (David Carradine), so he has her former cohorts, played by Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Daryl Hannah, and Michael Madsen, show up at the nuptials, leaving behind a blood bath. Miraculously, The Bride survives a bullet to the head and, four years later, she sets out for revenge against her four assassins and their employer. The story is concluded in Kill Bill Vol. 2, released six months later. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi

Kill Bill Volume 1 has recently become one of my favorite films of all time, though I know it's not the best of all time it really is one of the most entertaining and is very well done. Artistically this film blows me away, Tarantino's style of shooting, particularly throughout the second half set in Tokyo, is just amazing work, yes he is taking from things he has seen but it's all about the way he uses those styles and elements that is truly genius. Even the music he uses fits so perfectly you would think it was made just for this film. All in all it's a revenge flick with a lot of a$$kicking, sword fighting, and a whole lot of fun all the way through. Very entertaining and definitely Tarantino's second best work after Pulp Fiction. Overall Kill Bill 1 is a very fun epic revenge film that truly stands on it's own as being one of the most entertaining films of the last ten or so years. Highly recommended, even if you aren't a Tarantino fan, give it a spin, it might just surprise you.

A great action-packed entry into Tarantino's filmography. Kill Bill Vol. 1 is a fantastic tale of revenge. It seemed that Tarantino tried to pull a Pulp Fiction by making one, I repeat, one chapter out of order. But I can see why he did that. I strongly recommend this to anyone who appreciates film.

Was an entertaining movie. Had fun watching it with my boyfriend. Some parts were a little over the top (but didn't ruin the movie) and one particular scene I found rather long and boring...but overall it was still a fun rental. PS...I enjoyed Kill Bill 2 even more!

A lot of violence acts and blood gore especially on the animated parts. The story is pretty common. Someone hurts somebody and the person takes revenge, nothing new.

Tarantino is at it again ... creating live motion CARTOONS which must satisfy his childhood craving to be a movie producer. Despite the gore, it's a great effort by all, especially Umu Thurman as a super buff and completely inhuman revenge machine. Despite taking the heads and arms off dozens of "bad guys," she's still up and rolling for the final conflict. And then it suddenly ends, and you figure out it really IS "Part One" of at least one more blood bath in spades!
