This was excellent!!! So often these types of dvd's contain a badly assembled collection of poor-quality and outdated footage and worthless background commentary. This feature covers the Boeing/Lockheed-Martin battle in detail, starting behind the scenes with both teams and highlighting the trials and tribulations of bringing a 21st century fighter to life, in light of buget, labor and technical difficulties. The quality of the footage is outstanding and the narration succinct and interesting. Obviously this is not something for anyone not interested in these aircraft but if you are I highly recommend it. I also hope that having stretched ourselves to very limit of what's possible in order to manufacture these incredible machines, that (for once)some politician doesn't just give them away to whatever crackpot regime they're currently trying to curry favor with!!!

Airplane enthusiasts will enjoy this inside look at the creation of the next-generation fighter jet. Nova's cameras were granted a backstage pass into the Lockheed Skunkworks, Boeing's Phantomworks, and the top-secret Edwards AFB testing grounds, where they documented the X-plane competition from start to finish.

Amazing story and footage of the testing of these two planes as they are in early development. Watch this and then google the current status of the cost of the winning plane!
