Vin Diesel opted to not appear in the sequel to the film the shot him to stardom in the first place, The Fast and the Furious. With the character of Dominic Toretto out of the picture, 2 Fast 2 Furious concentrates exclusively on the latest exploits of undercover agent Brian O'Connor, played by Paul Walker. In addition, with director Rob Cohen passing, producers have added a dash of credibility to the sequel by hiring John Singleton to helm. What does completely remain from the first film is the presence of fast-living underground street-racing gangs. Moving from Los Angeles to Miami, O'Connor is looking to redeem himself after the events of the first movie, so he again goes undercover to infiltrate another group of thuggish car enthusiasts. This time around he's enlisted the help of ex-con Roman Pierce (Tyrese) and fellow agent Monica Celemente (Eva Mendes) to bring down Carter Verone (Cole Hauser), an importer/exporter who heads up a massive drug trafficking operation. Heading up the supporting cast are hip-hop stars Ludacris and Fabolous. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi
Whatever it was that made the first one great was missing from this one. Watch it if you've got to watch all the Fast & Furious movies, but it's forgettable and skippable. 1 and 5 were far better, with 3 a close second.
After the first dumb movie, we now get the dumber sequel. Billed as a sexy muscle car movie, we come to find out that the rods don't push, and the cams just don't grind....and as for muscle...All Fizz and no Zeek. This movie fails on all levels. John Singleton directs this cast into movie jail, and nobody is getting out free. This is the first half star moivie that I have ever reviewed...Need I say more..aka...ZoE Reporting
'2 Fast 2 Furious' it's a disgrace to 'The Fast and the Furious'. The plot: transport some money by driving crazy to attract attention and trouble. Because a quiet and safe transport is not practical. What an aberration ! The actors and dialogs: without some decent level of substance, plain childish. The action: driving straight (on your own lane) between 2 trucks is supposed to be way freaky and skill-demanding. This movie is stupid. It's a parasite living on the fame of the original movie 'The Fast and the Furious'.
