Robot Stories (2002)
Member Rating:
Greg Pak directs Robot Stories, a feature film made up of four separate vignettes set in the near future. In "My Robot Baby," Maria (Tamlyn Tomita) and Roy (James Saito) must take care of a robot baby before they can adopt a real one. In "The Robot Fixer," a car accident puts Wilson in a coma. His mother, Bernice Chin (Wai Ching Ho), tries to connect with him by repairing his old collection of toy robots. Her obsessive quest to find missing robot parts is observed by her daughter Grace (Cindy Cheung). In "Machine Love," a Sprout G9 iPerson (Greg Pak) is introduced to an office environment. In "Clay," sculptor John Lee (Sab Shimono) refuses to get scanned, which would merge his memory with a collective consciousness. He struggles to maintain his humanity against the judgement of his son Tommy (Ron Domingo) and wife Helen (Eisa Davis). ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi

I'm so angry that I can spit 10 penney nails 300 yards. 3 1/2 weks ago, I sent you a notice the DVD (Robobt stiries). In that notice I reported that the the dvd "Robot Stories was broken. Then , I emailed you of the discrepency. Yesterday I received the same broken DVD Robot Stories that I told you and sent back. Now, what is your reaction to what I said above? This is a low budget anthology containing for four short stories by what appears to be a sophomore filmmaker. Placing this title in the Sci-fi genre is a bit of a stretch since the production looks too budget constrained to escape the familiarity of a modern day environment. The production values are slightly below that of an after school special. It's difficult to guess who this title would appeal to since the writing is too simple for an adult audience and too boring to keep the attention of younger viewers. All dialogue is in English. The audio is output in stereo. As for extras, there's a trailer for the film, a "Mouse" short story (10:52 min), eight "Deleted Scenes", eleven "Audio Commentaries" and a "Stills Gallery". Not recommended.

Even if tyou are a fan of Japanese culture and sci-fi, you'll want to avoid this one. This is a low budget, mildly amusing waste of time. You'd be better off drawing a robot on a piece of paper and flushing it down the toilet.

I can't remember where I heard about this film. It got a whole bunch of awards. Plus I love science fiction and robots. But the stories were very slow moving and even the concepts didn't seem that interesting

I tried to write a review, I wanted to give a synopsis; but even though I used no offensive language, the site says it's offensive...so, I guess all I'm allowed to say is that it's an okay movie.
