Mardi Gras Massacre (1978)
Member Rating:
A dapper man with a dignified manner and money to burn is making the rounds of New Orleans strip clubs and bordellos, always asking to be directed to whichever prostitute is "the most evil." The lucky hookers are promised considerable cash to accompany the man back to his apartment; unfortunately, they are never heard from again. Once in his clutches, the women become sacrifices to the Aztec goddess of evil. The victims are tied nude to an altar and dispatched during highly ritualized murders that involve ceremonial masks, sacred oils and vivisection. When the bodies of prostitutes start showing up in dumpsters with their hearts hacked out, the New Orleans police department gets on the case. However, the corrupt cop in charge of the investigation spends more time in bed with his new hooker girlfriend than actually working, so the sinister Priest continues his one-man killing spree unabated. With Mardi Gras approaching, the chief of police demands results before the streets are filled with revellers, but their only hope is for the maniac to make a mistake. ~ Fred Beldin, Rovi
