The Man With the Golden Gun, Roger Moore's second outing as James Bond (Live and Let Die was the first), whisks our hero off to Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, and then the South China Sea in search of a solar energy weapon. His opponent is Scaramanga (Christopher Lee), who rules the roost on a well-fortified island. Scaramanga's aide-de-camp is Nick Nack, played by future Fantasy Island co-star Herve Villechaize. Britt Ekland plays the bikinied Mary Goodnight, whose clumsy efforts to help Bond thwart Scaramanga are almost as destructive as the elusive solar device. The Man With the Golden Gun was adapted by Richard Maibaum and Tom Mankiewicz from Ian Fleming's last James Bond novel, which had to be published posthumously in "rough draft" form. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Maybe I got spoiled with the latest Bond film, but this film was way too slow and cheesy for my tastes. Roger Moore was more serious than in his future Bond films and serious does not serve him well. I think that Christopher Lee showed more emotion as Dracula than he does in this film. Scratch this from any Bond collection.

One of the worst in the series. Although Moore plays Bond a bit harder-edged than in Live and Let Die, the film is otherwise silly. It's a shame Christopher Lee-who would later play memorable villains in Dracula, Lord Of The Rings and Star Wars-is wasted here as the Bond villain.

Very disappointed with this film. Except for the title of the film and the names of a few characters this film bore no relation to the book. Add to that poor acting, bad set designs and a cheesy plot and you have the makings of a terrible movie.

The worst of the Roger Moore Bonds. Very slow paced and dated plot. The screenwriters have be quoted as saying that they were trying to make this like the western, Shane. But, they were way off the mark.

This one stars Roger Moore as James Bond (One of my favorites) and Christopher Lee is the bad guy. Bond is tracking down the assassin Scramanga who apparently is out to get him. There are women in bikinis, gun fights, midgets, explosions. Everything a Bond film should be.
