The Mad Doctor of Blood Island (1969)
Member Rating:
This Filipino scarefest is better known by the title Mad Doctor of Blood Island. The principle villain, however, is not a "he" but an "it". A frantic search is conducted on a remote island for a deadly, green-blooded "Chlorophyl Monster." Notice how we aren't making any toothpaste jokes here. It should come as no surprise that John Ashley is the star; his leading lady is the luscious Angelique Pettyjohn, while Ronald Remy is the eponymous mad doctor. Remy would make a return appearance in a sort of sequel, Beast of Blood ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Holy cow... that's all I can say, and (Angelique Pettyjohn notwithstanding) I mean it in the worst way possible!

admittedly it is low budget and pretty weak as a movie but it was shot on a shoestring with cheap (amateur) actors back in the '60's in The Phillipines. Good points: great outdoor scenery and attractive lead actress (Angelique Pettyjohn). Bad points: monster make-up, zooming in and out, predictable plot. You get what you pay for and no one would pay much for this. Caution: one nude scene, one topless scene.

This was kinda fun. If you like "barely" B movies of a Drive-In nature then this might entertain you. Somewhat crude make-up for our zombie, but you got to give 'em props for trying to make it as disgusting looking as possible. Decent gore too for a late 60's flick. The rapid zooming in and out is a little annoying. This is not rated PG, btw - it's rated M for mature.
