Kenneth Colley stars in this four-part miniseries (originally produced for British television) which dramatizes the life and adventures of England's best-known naval officer, Lord Horatio Nelson. I Remember Nelson chronicles the great man's life by telling his story as seen by several people who were close to him: his wife, a handful of good friends, a young soldier who served under him in a crucial battle, and his first officer. I Remember Nelson was aired in the United States as part of the award-winning anthology series Masterpiece Theater. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Master and Commander, Mutiny on the Bounty, Horatio Hornblower this is NOT. I Remember Nelson is a tedious drawing room drama with low production values and endless speeches by stoney actors. No sea battles. Not worth your time.

There are 4 stories about Nelson (2 per disc) told from 4 different points of view: his abandoned wife, the husband of his mistress, his ship's captain, and a common British Navy recruit who fought on Nelson's ship at Trafalgar. Each helps to paint a picture of the brilliant but flawed English hero. Probably only interesting for history buffs as a period piece. The last hour gives a detailed, gritty and horrific picture of a sea battle below deck.

This is truly horrible. I can only imagine film historians being interested.

I thought I'd be getting something like a History Channel documentary...wow! so wrong, accomplished actors, but why they did this play is beyond me. It is a long drawn out play, and didn't bother to watch it all.

Did not even finish the series. I thought this would be more in the style of Horatio Hornblower in the biography of Lord Nelson. It starts out with a bad play on the Life if Nelson and goes downhill from there. If you want real biographical type of moive - this was not it.

This is a well-acted story of Nelson from the view of four of his contemporaries, each sharing one or more episode showing the point of view of the person. The last episode is especially vivid in its depiction of the life on the gun deck during battle. The episode from the view of Lord Hamilton is also quite enlightening. I enjoyed this because I've been interested in the history and literature of the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic times. If you like Aubrey, Bolitho, or Hornblower novels, you'll find this very worthwhile.

Guess we should have read the previous reviews........... Darned Poor excuse for entertainment........ These are not MOVIES but poorly accomplished plays....... some of the location backgrounds are kind of interesting-but not enough to make this worthwhile............. Sorry but I guess we were expecting the excellence shown with Horatio Hornblower and Master in Commander!
