Eight years before the dinosaur mania created by Jurassic Park, Bill L. Norton released this more dinosaur-friendly story about a 10-foot baby dinosaur in dire straits in Africa because Dr. Eric Kiviat (Patrick McGoohan), an evil paleontologist, is after it with a vengeance. He is the nemesis of Dr. Susan Matthews-Loomis (Sean Young) -- determined to save the baby from its hunters -- and her husband George Loomis (William Katt), a sportswriter who shares her protective instincts. Kiviat has recruited a revolutionary army to help him capture the baby's mother -- which they manage to do without killing her. The army has already shot down the father dinosaur, and so their own instincts are far from protective. As the husband and wife and baby dinosaur are united at last in their attempts to survive, the next step is to recapture Mom dinosaur and get away from the army and Kiviat, not an easy feat. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

I rented this for my 4 year old boy. PG, well, most cartoons are PG these days. i didn't think anything of it. There is a stabbing scene within the first 5 minutes of the movie. People dying, getting eaten. A newly married couple who are groping and whatnot all over the place (without any visible chemistry whatsoever). And the dinosaurs themselves look like rubber toys. TERRIBLY unbelievable. It's not really something that adults will dig because the dinosaurs are just so silly. And kids get bored because there's too much adult activity. I'm not sure who their target audience was, but they missed the mark...

Among the movies i overly enjoyed & overly watched when i was a kid (others were Mary Popins & Harry & the Henderson's). I know online reviews today love to point out how this movies content may be questionable for kids (like language, violence and some sexual content). But let's remember that this movie was released before there was a PG-13 rating. So if you are a parent & is concern about what their kid watches, make sure you screen what they want to watch before they watch it. That's what a good parent should do.

This movie is NOT a PG movie. It is not for children. The language is very offensive. There are very adult sexual situations.

Not appropriate for children. Sexual scene in middle of movie with 2 adults, no shirts on and bra unhooked. Should be PG 13 due to this. Very bad acting and dialogue.

The entire movie was cheesy and the marriage relationship was not very believeable. The dinosaurs were very clumsy and their movements were jerky so you could tell they were animatronic. The storyline was a little sparse and character development just didn't really happen. Overall it is what it is - a B rate movie.

I watched this movie as a kid and remember loving it; (Well it was in 1985 before graphics are what they are today) but was shocked at all of the violence and sex that I did not remember. I watched it with my 3 year old and 7 year old and found myself fast forwarding through much of it. My guess is it was not rated PG13 because they didn't have PG13 then. But it should have been. Do not rent it for your young children.

THIS IS NOT A PG MOVIE!!! BEWARE!! Just because your child/children likes dinos, DO NOT be tricked by the cover of this one as I was--YIKES! Terrible movie for children. Why didn't I read the reviews that I have NOW read and could have saved my children from this movie?? It was just too much with the couple attempting to have "adult relations" various times and the violence. It was an 80s movie, so I didn't expect much from the dinos (which were ridiculous, btw) An all around horrible flick.
