Produced by Jerry B. Jenkins of Left Behind and Navigators fame, Hometown Legend tells the story of a small Alabama town where football and faith come together. The downtrodden town has seen better days, and the community's high school is scheduled to close at the end of the year. In honor of the school's final year, the legendary coach of the once intimidating football program returns to give the kids another shot at glory. The no-nonsense coach (Terry O'Quinn) not only brings pride back to the team, but gives the town as a whole a glimmer of hope. The same tactics used in football--sacrificing individual goals and rather working for the sake of the team--becomes a metaphor for what the town needs to get back on its feet. Hometown Legend features Lacey Chabert and Nick Cornish. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

We enjoyed the whole movie. Football is big just about everywhere but, when you are from a small town, it ranks very high on the list of things you enjoy. This movie will make you laugh one second and cry the next. I you like wholesome television and spending time with the kids, gt everybody together to enjoy the time with this one. Great book and movie!

I love a good football movie, and this one also had a positive message without being preachy or cloying. Think Friday Night Lights, but just a little sweeter. Lacey Chabert and Terry O'Quinn gave particularly enjoyable performances. A great family-friendly movie, except for a little bit of coarse locker-room talk that parents might not want younger kids to hear. Othewise, highly recommended!

Great to see a clean, family friendly movie now & then which can be watched without 'having to leave the room" episodes or other distracting techniques in mixed age & gender audience. Nice, also because it's not an over-the-top, sinners-bored-or-scared-to-admit-they-watched faith-based film. Great blend of reality, faith, love, action, and full circle of dealing with the past.

An entertaining sports movie about an underdog high school football team...good, clean family fare.

The first film by producer Dallas Jenkins, Hometown Legend is a gem. Terry O'Quinn's well-directed performance is a powerful center to this thought provoking and emotional story of a high school football coach who learns to pray after the devastating loss of his son. I especially enjoyed the last game - an unexpected and refreshing treatment of what could have been a predictable ending. A fine supporting cast including Lacey Chabert and Nick Cornish. Some really funny moments, too. Appropriate for the whole family, though it deals with some themes that might be over the heads of smaller children.
