Based on a short story by the late Philip K. Dick, this science fiction-thriller reflects the writer's familiar preoccupation with themes of concealed identity and mind control. Tom Cruise stars as John Anderton, a Washington, D.C. detective in the year 2054. Anderton works for "Precrime," a special unit of the police department that arrests murderers before they have committed the actual crime. Precrime bases its work on the visions of three psychics or "precogs" whose prophecies of future events are never in error. When Anderton discovers that he has been identified as the future killer of a man he's never met, he is forced to become a fugitive from his own colleagues as he tries to uncover the mystery of the victim-to-be's identity. When he kidnaps Agatha (Samantha Morton), one of the precogs, he begins to formulate a theory about a possible frame-up from within his own department. Directed by Steven Spielberg, who hired a team of futurists to devise the film's numerous technologically advanced gadgets, Minority Report co-stars Colin Farrell, Max von Sydow, and Neal McDonough. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

This movie is a relatively loose adaption of Philip K. Dicks bestseller directed by Steven Spielberg. Basically it's a who-dun-it type thriller set in the future that puts Cruise on the run throughout almost the entire movie. Fantastic direction, cinematography, and screenplay with Cruise in one of his finest acting projects to date, it also raises some moral questions about this whole futuristic police system that the movie is based on.

This is one of the better stories from Phillip Dick's 'Minority Report and other stories' (Paycheck, Total Recall, Screamers, Minority Report). A good adaption to movie.

One of Cruise' best. Beats the crap out of MI.

Cool futuristic technology that even with some inconsistencies is still exciting and engaging. Cruise is pretty good.

I was impressed by the cast and the acting. If you can get over the completely implausible concept that three semi-catatonic "savants" can see the future, then it's a fun and suspenseful thriller.

Yes, Minority Report was woefully unbelievable and yes, Speilberg has a tendency to repeat himself, but Mcflicker's review is nonsensical and way too full of movie-title puns and blatant and obtuse egomania. For one thing, his remark, "not so steamy moments and romantic twists that no one cares for" is rediculous. The film isn't trying to make ANY kind of romantic gesture and its ludacris to fault the film for it. Secondly, Mcflicker doesn't know what he's talking about. Speilberg's "ethics and morality" are no different than 99% of the rest of major Hollywood directors, and furthermore, the moral dilema of the film is what makes the film more interesting to watch and get involved with. Lastly and possibly most annoying is Mcflickers ability to throw in former Speilberg movies as if to compare this one to Speilberg's "former" glory. Mcflicker thinks this will validate his review, but in the end it only shows him as an uninformed, pompous blowhard.

Don't see this. The most overrated, ueber-hyped film ever sold to the American masses. P.K. Dick would be ashamed.
