The director of Mortal Kombat (1995) adapts another popular video game for the big screen with this gory action thriller. Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez star as Alice and Rain, two members of a commando team assigned to infiltrate the Hive, an underground research laboratory owned by the faceless conglomerate known as the Umbrella Corporation. A bio-engineered virus has been released into the maze-like Hive, turning the facility's employees into mindless, flesh-eating zombies. A single scratch or bite from one of these rampaging ghouls dooms its victim, so the commandos have their work cut out for them as they attempt to reach the Red Queen, the lab's supercomputer -- and their sole hope of halting the spread of the contagion. Before they can complete their mission, however, the soldiers must overcome a variety of deadly obstacles, including mutant dogs, lasers, and a genetically altered beast known as The Licker, whose strength increases with every victim it slays. Alice and Rain also discover that the release of the virus may not have been an accident, and that a cure may exist somewhere in the deadly Hive. Not a horror fan but the action kept me interested. Saw the most recent version in the theater and wanted to catch up on the back story. Many manufactured jumps but if you like zombie killing movies, nothing not to like about this one.

I was curious about this movie as I had heard it was good. Action lived up to expectations. Some surprise combat moves from milla jovovich as I had expected her to be the civilian.

I give it three stars primarily for the commentary on this dvd. It is hilarious, should definitely give it a watch with it on. As for the movie, it is a decent take on the genre and the imagination of making a film based on the hit videogame.

Very exciting and futuristic. Good story about a virus mutating and threating the known world. It is quite gory, however, with people getting cut in two with lasers and such. Quite sad as some of your favorite characters keep getting horribly killed! Well worth watching if one like sci fi and horror combined! I liked it!

Based off a video game made me thought that the story would be horrible but I was wrong. A zombie thriller with a fantastic story to it. Starts off a little boring but I was hooked because the background to the story is very interesting. A tense zombie movie that should be seen.

The movie wasn't that bad until the zombies showed up. If you want to see a good zombie type movie, see "28 Days Later" or "I Am Legend".

I'm not one to watch films just because a certain person is in it, so the cast really did not impress me. Of course, acting was not really high in priority for this one. It was just straight action with a touch of horror, and it had that hint of comic book feel to it. For one of the first movies based ona video game, I think they did a pretty good job, starting off a string fairly nicely. After this, they just kept getting better, which is rare in a film string.--- Plot and action were realitively good, much better than the usual zombie flick. Definitely better than all of the 28 Days string of films.
