Loosely inspired by the true story of the heavy metal band Judas Priest, this music industry fable from director Stephen Herek is based on a script by actor-turned-writer/director John Stockwell. Mark Wahlberg stars as Chris Cole, a wannabe rock star who works by day as a copy machine repairman and by night as the lead singer of Blood Pollution, a Pennsylvania tribute band that imitates the best-selling heavy metal rockers of Steel Dragon. Although he's supported by his girlfriend Emily (Jennifer Aniston), Chris is devastated when his friends kick him out of the band he founded. His humiliation doesn't last long, however, as Chris soon learns that he's been tapped to replace the lead singer of Steel Dragon, literally becoming a rock star overnight. Chris soon has everything he's ever wanted but is disappointed to discover that being a superstar isn't everything it's cracked up to be. This is for sure a movie to own if your a music lover. This movie shows the ups and the downs of being a rockstar. I wouldn't waste your time "renting" this one, I'd go out and BUY IT!! The acting is GREAT and the storyline is even better!!

Really captures the 80s Heavy Metal wanna be a rock star fantasy in a believable way. Conceived from the happenings of the band Judas Priest, the adaption is worth watching. Music of Steel Dragon is from real Rockers like, Zakk Wylde, Jason Bonham, Jeff Pilson, Nick Catonese, Jeff Scott Soto, and Mike Matijevic. I own the soundtrack cause it CRANKS!

I am really not that big of a Mark Wahlberg fan, but this movie really struck a chord with me...no pun intended. The story and really the progression of Wahlberg's character from idolizing his favorite band, the being a part of them...its both inspirational and eye opening. The message in this movie is if you want something bad enough go for it cause there is no limit to what you can do...but at the same time dont let your dreams consume you cause at some point or another in life we all have to wake up. Its a great movie whether you are a music lover or not. And the track list in this movie is just awesome.

I love this movie. It's quite the fantasy movie and fun to follow. I loved Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston I found their characters to be quite believable.
