Jake Gyllenhaal, the young star of the critically well-received October Sky (1999), follows up that film with this offbeat comedy. Gyllenhaal stars as Jimmy Livingston, a teenager with an immune system deficiency who has spent his entire life living in a plastic bubble under the doting, overprotective care of his mother (Swoosie Kurtz). Jimmy is in love with his next-door neighbor Chloe (Marley Shelton), so when he learns that she has left for Niagara Falls in order to be married, he's devastated. He quickly assembles a portable "bubble suit" and sets out on a 2,755.8-mile odyssey in order to stop her and proclaim his affection. Along the way, Jimmy experiences a number of adventures, including encounters with freaks, bikers, rock stars, and a cult. Bubble Boy is a comic riff on the classic TV movie The Boy in the Plastic Bubble (1976), which starred a young John Travolta. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

Wonderfully goofy, nonsense comedy. If you'd like the guilty equivalent of eating an entire box of chocolates for your brain, then rent it (just brush afterwards). Who could guess that Jake Gyllenhaal could be such a screwball comic? I giggled on a sugar high until the very end.

This took me by surprise. What a funny movie. Lots of laugh out loud moments. If you want a silly comedy that is hilarious then get this movie. Great comedy.

Sure this is just another dumb road comedy but it's so well done and funny that you won't feel guilty for liking it! Could be a cult classic. Jake does not disappoint.

This movie was a complete sleeper! We had no idea what to expect and planned on being disappointed. Terrific plot had the bumbling Bubble Boy bumping into a bizarre and very funny cast of characters. This version of Bubble Boy delivered enjoyment for everyone in the house. I was impressed with Jake Gyllenhaal in Donny Darko, but it was good to see him in a comedy. FOUR STAR!

The bubble boy that died is not the only child in the history of humans to have this condition, that mother cannot possibly sue. Plus didn't John Travolta do the first serious version of Bubble boy? Anyway, This movie is awesome. I laughed my arse off. Ridiculously laugh out loud silly. Jake is so freaking amazing. He really can go from one extreme to the other. Plus Swoozie is awesome too, and everyone else.

I loved the cast members of this movie. Jake Gyllenhaal was great as bubble boy. The funnist part was Slim and Wildfire. Hehehehe. Was glad he got the girl in the end and didn't die.

This movie was based on a true story of a boy that actually died, his mother went to court about this movie being made but the cout did not listen, so by seeing this movie you are actually supporting this movie...I know you are probably thinking that ther have been plenty of movies that have been based on true storys and you are right, but the reason why this one is so bad is that at the end of this movie the bubble boy gets out of his bubble and he thinks that he has died but he really did not die, the only reason he was in the bubble was because his parents were overly pretective... so the whole story is about them moching a eleven year old boy that did actually die... do you still want to see this movie...I surely hope not!
