One the best, most serious detectives in France (Gérard Depardieu) is teamed up with a luckless stumble-bum (Pierre Richard) and sent off to Central America to search for the klutzy daughter of a powerful magnate in this fast-paced and funny French farce. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

i saw that movie very long time ago (and more than once), translated in Russian (my native language)and it was hilarious! Pierre Richard and Gerard Depardieu were paired up for a lot of great comedies - i recommend them all!

LA CHEVRE is one of the funniest French comedies I’ve seen with humor that easily translates to American audiences. A real treat with good performances by Gerard Depardieu and Pierre Richard. Worth a look.

I love Gerard Depardieu, so I rented this movie even though noone had reviewed it yet & it was pretty old. It was hilarious! Gerard is so young, slim and...blonde! He plays a detective who gets hired to go to South America to find his boss' daughter who is accident-prone. The company psychologist convinces the boss that the detective should take another accident-prone person to South America in order to follow the tracks of one accident prone person to find another. The gags are timed wonderfully & will keep you chuckling...especially when the accident-prone guy starts to get lucky, and Depardieu's character starts to get unlucky....worth reading the subtitles to watch!

8/11 This is the first subtitled film where no reviewer bitterly complained about having to read. IN FRENCH. Its very funny, I particularly laughed at the times that Pierre treated Gerard like a subordinate, because he was told he would be in charge. Somewhat reminiscent of early James Bond films where the heros' blind luck and stumbling into the right place and time lead him to success. The theme dates back to Cary Grant- to catch a thief, use a thief: so to catch a klutz, use a klutz. If you like this, I strongly recommend "The Dinner Game" (not american version) your sides should split.

Pierre Richard is extremely funny as a bungling accountant enlisted in the search for a missing girl in Mexico. It is unfortunate that so few of his films are available.

This is the exact same movie as "Pure Luck" with Martin Short and Danny Glover. Scene for scene. We really liked Pure Luck, and we enjoyed this one, too. Very clean and very funny.
