One of the first films ever to be designed specifically to become a cult movie, this silly low-budget comedy has tomatoes growing to giant size and terrorizing screaming '70s types. It's really bad on purpose, with awful effects and a dumb script, in hopes of luring fans of campy old movies like Plan 9 From Outer Space. There's a fun Jaws parody as the tomatoes attack a swimmer and a cute bit involving a military meeting in a small office with a very large table, but overall it fails to generate many laughs. The problem is that the films which this one attempts to mock -- mainly bad 1950s sci-fi pictures -- have a cult following because they are funny unintentionally, and are beloved for reasons which this somewhat cynical effort completely misses. It has its moments, granted, but it just tries too hard. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

This is one of those that you either love or hate. And I loved it, "pass the ketchup!".

This movie is probably the dorkiest movies I've ever seen and I think that's what makes me love it so much. The movie is easy to enjoy if you don't take it seriously and just appreciate its random humor and soundtrack. "Puberty Love" is the best song. Know where I can buy the CD?

This movie is one of those ones that are so cheasy (on purpose of course) that its funny! You can tell it was made with little money, but how much money do you really need to buy tomatoes? :-)

Loved this movie as a kid and seeing now just realizing how corny it was and not so funny anymore. For obscure comedy for the time, it was excellent. I think it really paved the way for the Airplane! era however.

Fun and entertaining smiles all the way through. I liked the guy with the parachute, there should be more good, clean comedys made like this one.

its supposed to be a comedic farce but its just so silly and stupid, i think they actually pulled it off as funny. the noise the tomatoes make "buzz buzz" is just some kid with a microphone.

very bad but very funny spoof on the low budget old horror movies from the 1950's and 1960's and it is a lot of fun to watch. the munching sound that the tomatoes make is classic! but many of the jokes are now dated and may not be understood by someone that wasn't around in the 1970's.

So bad it is hilarious! Loved it twenty yeaqrs ago, and while production values are horrible, the move is still very funny, although it is CAMP.

Expecting a dorky, silly movie, I got mostly boring instead. Only a few random parts are amusing. Not really worth paying money to watch.
