After three men are discovered hideously mutilated -- their faces have been removed -- and strung up among New York City's high-tension wires, Detective Klaski (Bruno Campos) stumbles upon a link: Each of the men knew entomologist Remy (Alix Koromzay), a teacher at an inner-city high school. Klaski considers Remy a prime, albeit unlikely suspect, in the killings until he witnesses for himself the shape-shifting creature that has been stalking Remy -- an intelligent six-foot-tall insect with the face of its previous victim. Mimic 2 is a fairly predictable yet logical continuation of the Mimic series. I'm not sure I understand why they didn't try to get some of the original actors back to try and establish a theatrical franchise rather than a direct to video schlock franchise. As it is, Mimic 2 is a paint by numbers horror movie. With a low budget, they focus more on the human victims and are content to keep the cockroaches in the shadows. The acting isn't the best either. Sort of interesting for the story, but the execution is pretty disappointing.

Written by Greg G. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie from beginning to end. There was plenty of scary action and gruesome special effects. The story line was not predictable and I was kept guessing as to who would meet their demise. The twist in the plot near the end really surprised me. I give this film a grade of 3 & 1/2 stars. It's not too scary for kids ages 12-13 and above to watch with their favorite adults. I would change the theatrical MPAA Rating of R to a PG-13 for some violence with no sexual overtones, drug use, or nudity.

overall this was a pretty good movie. not as good as the first mimic movie. if you like sci-fi horror, you'll like these mimic flicks. if not, you won't. the first two thirds of this movie are good; lighting, music, suspence, thrills even acting. but something went wrong in the third act. the execution of it failed. the suspense wavered and things got slow and predictable. i don't know if they ran out of money or cut some significant scenes but the end was disappointing. worth watching but not worth owning or seeing twice.

There's no reason to see this movie if you didn't see the first one. It's predictable, the dialogue is awful, and the characters aren't likable. I only recommend watching this one if you're curious where the Mimic storyline went after the first one.

Again Mimic 2 mimicked its predecessor by having some bad dialogue and being slow paced at times. They did bring back a character from the first which I always liked and connected to in horror films. However, I was entertained at parts but I never did old an interest in the film.

Though, not a great movie, it is about as good as the first. It continues the Mimic theme with different characters and different storyline. If you like Mimic you should like this one. It's worth checking out.
