I loved Katie Tippel. It was a great story and I enjoyed the movie being spoken in Dutch. I was raised in a Dutch family and it gave me the chance to practice my understanding of the language.

Verhoeven's a great director who just doesn't fit the critic's mold of who that should be - so he routinely get slammed for being visionary, provocative and highly entertaining. (Um... kinda like Hitchcock used to be?) Here's YET ANOTHER little-known gem from his early years. My only crit is it's a bit episodic but that's 'cause the source material was a loose collection of memoirs by Katie herself. Way under-rated at 3 stars!

Excellent acting and a very interesting expose of the late 19th century Amsterdam. The movie made you feel like you were part of their culture.

Excellent Film. Very good acting, interesting plot, and beautifully filmed. Based on a true story, I thought the film gave an excellent portrayal of the life in 1880's in Holland. Two thumbs up.

Great story line old drama fans like me. It told of the hunger and terrible conditions the people lived under. It is in french and had some nudity that many of us can do without. Not for kids.

I don't watch pornography so, right off it was shut down. It starts approx. 7-10 into the movie.
