Little Joe Cartwright is hauled into court, accused of murdering a pregnant girl named Mary Parson. The girl's father Jake (Crahan Denton) and her brothers all claim that Mary planned to elope with Joe on the night of her death, which is news to Joe. Helping to tighten the noose around the youngest Cartwright's neck is the prosecution's main witness: Joe's old friend John Hardner (Russell Collins).
