This gory, scary low-budget shocker from the Roger Corman stable concerns the battle over a salmon cannery in a Pacific Northwest town. Genetically treated salmon escape the plant and are eaten by coelacanths, who mutate into humanoid monsters with giant craniums and sharp claws. The creatures begin attacking teen couples, killing the boys and mating with the girls (in some pretty graphic monster-rape scenes). Eventually, a bunch of them create total pandemonium at the annual salmon festival. Barbara Peeters directs with flair, Rob Bottin's effects are nauseatingly effective, and the cast is good, especially Vic Morrow as a racist fisherman and Doug McClure as the stalwart hero. An uncompromising shockfest with enough gratuitous blood and nudity to keep fans happy, the film features an Alien-inspired shock ending which still makes viewers jump today. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

A low budget movie with a few laughs, whether intentional or not. This movie is ridiculous but fun and fun to watch Doug McClure take his role so seriously.

Guess I got the original classic. Pure Roger Corman from start to finish. If you like Cormans work get this movie.

If you're into low budget, schlock horror - this one is for you. The dialogue may be more ridiculous than the monsters! A Corman classic. Not for the squeamish.

Like everybody else said already, don't be fooled by the description - this is NOT the movie you will receive. Look closely at the picture and you'll see the names do not match those of the description. I've written to Blockbuster to correct the false advertisment, and to actually add the original 1980 movie to their line-up. Hopefully it will work. Good B movies are miles away from bad B movies like this one! Wish I had've looked here first!

Just simple AWESOME... if only B.B. had enough copies to go around. Nothing better than seeing long wait on something that's been out of print forever, and it's finally been re-issued... but by the time (if) I get it, it'll probably be out of print again...
