Heroes (1977)
Member Rating:
Heroes is an old-fashioned social problem movie concerning a troubled Vietnam veteran and the loving woman who helps him to work out his problems. Henry Winkler plays Jack Dunne, a veteran who has a history of mental problems. Jack fools the hospital doctor Elias (Hector Elias) and escapes from the hospital with the intention of starting a worm farm with money collected from his fellow inmates. Jack hops aboard a bus, where he meets up with Carol Bell (Sally Field), who, invites Jack to join up with her on a trip to California. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

My son had been talking to his dad about the song Wayward Son,by Kansas, we wanted him to see how it was integrated into the movie, but for some reason it has been removed from the DVD Very disappointing... still a good movie... but the song gave it additional flavor that is now missing.

Really liked the show and rented it to show my son, but the story lost impact by removing the original song, Carry On Wayward Son, at the end. Needs to be restored to its original form to retain that impact and drive its point home.

Great performances, particularly at the end by both Sally Field and Henry Winkler. I was surprised at the depth in which Winkler could play the role of troubled Vietnam vet Jack Dunne. Campy in ways only 70's movies always seem to be, but great. Look also for Harrison Ford as one of Dunne's buddies. His role is a dud, so it's a bit ironic as to who became more sought after than the other in real life.

The synopsis isnt correct carol bell dosen't invite Jack to go with her to CA she dosen't even know him at first , he just keeps following her and ended up causing trouble for him and the only reason she goes with him is cuz he owes her money. Henry W does a great job as a troubled vet a far cry from Fonzie from Happy Days it shows he can do serious and comedy. The movie itself is so so sorta depressing . Whats best is that it was Filmed in Petaluma CA where i use to live (even thou in the scene they say its Eureka) the bus depot scene and the ending when the bombs r going off is downtown Pet it makes me long for the good ole days of the 70's and 80's when I was happier. Check it out if u like the stars otherwise its probably not worth your time and I agree with the other guy no Kansas song too bad its great
