Billed as Full Metal Jacket meets Heat meets Nikita, Kang Je Gyu directs this wildly popular action-thriller about tensions between North and South Korea. The film opens with agents in North Korean spy school T19 engaged in an unbelievably difficult rigorous training regime. The school's fanatically committed leader, Park Mu Young (Choi Min Sik) singles out the beautiful and sinewy Lee Bang Hee (Kim Yun Jin), an ace student and a deadeye shot, for a top-secret mission. A couple of years later, South Korean intelligence agents are baffled by a spate of murders of scientists working on a top-secret defense project. Agents Yu Jong Won (Han Suk Kyu) and Lee Jang Gil (Song Kang Ho) suspect the North Korean Lee but cannot locate her. One day, Yu finally spots Lee Bang Hee icing an arms dealer with a sniper rifle. At the same time, North Korean spy Park Mu Young and his fellow commandos take out a military convoy and swipe a top-secret substance called CTX, an explosive that is completely undetectable. Park and Lee's plan slowly becomes horribly apparent: to blow up a North and South Korean friendship soccer game, launching a war that will bring South Korea under the North's hegemony. At the same time, South Korean intelligence is starting to suspect a mole in their midst and evidence seems to point to Yu's girlfriend. This film was screened at the 1999 Pusan Film Festival. ~ Jonathan Crow, Rovi

A lot of action, yes. People getting shot, people blowing up, people getting dismembered, but also still my favorite love story.

Based on the picture on the cover and the text description, I thought this was going to be a movie with a hot Asian chick kicking butt. Boy was I wrong. Instead it was a very mediocre Korean action movie. The only thing I really found interesting was the insight into Korean culture and the animosity between the North and the South. You can't really appreciate that from reading the newspaper, but seeing a movie from their perspective was very interesting. But seriously, where did they come up with the picture for the cover? There was not a scantily clad woman to be seen anywhere in the movie!

The beginning and the end were pretty good but everything in between dragged on and on. The camera shook horrible in every single action scene. The love story was so boring I actually hit fast foward anytime the music called for romance.

I was really impressed by everything in this movie. The action, the plot, the love story, and the political differences between North and South Korea. This movie was every bit as good as any James Bond movie. Kudos to the writer too. The fish tanks; as well as, Hee's alter occupation was ingenious! Congratulations Mr. Kang!

Great story and full of surprises. There are a lot of actions and meaning of the movie was cleverly exposed to audience. You can enjoy the fast speed of an action movie as well as feel the deep emotion of the message which the movie tries to send out

Dated plot/cinematography/characters. A badly-made pseudo-1960s spy film.
