Gleaming the Cube does for skateboarding what Over the Top did for arm wrestling -- i.e. not a hell of a lot. Christian Slater is the skateboarding star, playing Brian Kelly, a sneering and laconic teen outcast. He feels left out and envious of his adopted Vietnamese brother Vinh's (Art Chudabala) success as an honor roll student and as the center of attention in his family. When Vinh commits suicide, Brian is suspicious and rolls away on his skateboard to find out what really happened -- and ultimately to avenge his murder. Brian's investigation is aided and abetted by a sardonic detective named Al Lucero (Steven Bauer), a collection of skateboard aficionados, and an incredibly attractive Vietnamese girl, Tina (Min Luong). ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

anyone who watches this movie should be thankful they even got to watch it, this movie is very rare, and if you havent tried to purchase it yet, goodluck. this is one of my favorite movies, its not cheezy. the only thing cheezy is your bag of cheezy poofs, nimrod.

Holly I agree with you 150% if you haven't seen this movie I do recommend seeing it christian slater an tony hawk are an awsome duo the skate boarding in this film is spectacular and out of this world the story line behind the movie begins with christian slater avenging his brothers death I know it sounds silly but I promise you will be satisfied its a terrific film and I dont want to give anything else away but it is terrific

I first saw this movie as a thirteen year old girl at a New Years Eve party. When it was over I wiped the drool off my chin and watched it twice more. There was nothing cooler in my world than Christian Slater. Take a teenie bopper 80's girl opinion for what its worth.

Extra cheesy. Weak plot and some really bad wardrobe/hairstyles, maybe those alone should have given this movie an "R" rating. If I remember correctly, Hawk has a cameo as a pizza boy, and Natas ollies into the bed of his truck. Anyway, amusing at best.
