Excellent movie with a powerful story. Daniel Auteuil reminded me of a French Michael Douglas, with a touch of Dirty Harry thrown in for measure. Ciaran Hinds is here too-such a great actor. What starts out as a missing persons search turns into an almost personal quest for justice against child-abusers. I can't give you my only gripe without ruining the film, so I'll just say that the behaviour of one of the important characters was almost self-defeating.

This movie is a complex thriller that exposes the evils of the underground child sex trade. Daniel Auteuil gives an incredible performance in this shadowy role of a private eye who takes on the job of locating a family's adult son who has mysteriously disappeared. What he finds leads him to the dark underworld of human trafficking and he has to make a choice of whether he wants to walk away or risk his life and play the hero. This is a very important film that everyone should see, because it exposes the real-life problem of human trafficking/modern slavery that will force every parent to keep both eyes on their children at all times, plus unlike many film noirs there is some justice at the end of the movie. For more on this you may want to check out Academy Award® winning actress Mira Sorvino and Golden Globe® winning actor Donald Sutherland as ICE investigators taking on the same problem in "Human Trafficking".

Such a good movie and so hard to understand what the characters are saying.. Would have been much better with subtitles.

Mediocre. The opening sequence establishes that Auteuil's character is a lowlife, so I guess we're supposed to go all gooey when he spends the rest of the film acting noble. And naturally his nobility is misunderstood because we live in a petty-bourgeois world, don't we? He's very adept in the first few action sequences, but then he gets stupid so that the bad guys can tie him up...I mean, if they didn't, the film would run a half hour short. We've seen every predictable beat of this film a thousand times before.

Forgettable. Already, I can hardly remember having watched it. In fact, it's so forgettable that I accidentally rented it twice. I do remember the boy urinating on the corpse, but the rest is lost.
