Hong Kong star Jet Li portrays the inventor of T'ai Chi in this entertaining if not historically accurate martial-arts movie. Junbao (Li) and Tienbao (Chin Siu-Ho) are a pair of young monks studying kung fu in a Shaolin temple. Junbao is balanced and humble, but Tienbao is competitive and eager to advance. The two are wrongfully accused of cheating during a tournament and are expelled. From there they take radically different paths. Tienbao becomes a mercenary for an evil warlord, and Junbao joins a rebel group led by Michelle Yeoh. Tienbao betrays Junbao; Junbao loses his memory in the resulting fight. While recuperating, he develops the graceful T'ai Chi fighting style. Although many may find the cartoonish, acrobatic fight sequences to be campy, they are elaborate and dazzling. ~ Jonathan E. This movie is great. My family enjoyed it very much. We even shared a few laughs at the funny parts. Everyone who likes Jet Li or karate will not be disappointed. Buy or rent this movie today.
Junbao (Jet Li Lian Jie) and Tienbao (Chin Siu-Ho) are Shaolin disciples and friends since very young. Tienbao seems to always get them both into trouble with his agressive ways. His behavior gets him expelled and Junbao stays with him. The two monks have to find their way in the real world and trouble seems to find them. There are cool fighting scenes and a part where Jet Li's character goes crazy that is very funny.
Wow. Rent Twin Warriors instead! This version suffers from an awful soundtrack that cripples the action scenes. They got some generic Chinese music to play over the fight choreography, and what a difference it makes. Also, the sound mix is horrible, with the music way too loud over the effects. I don't usually like dubbing, but the English dubs suited Twin Warriors really well. Overall, while this translation might be better, stick with Twin Warriors to get the most for your money.
I actually almost rented this again, unti I realized that I'd seen it under another title -- but even if I had rented it, I wouldn't have be mad because this was just a very enjoyable movie. Everything about it held your interest: the storyline, the action (fight-scenes), the characters, etc. After watching this my two grandchildren (6 and 7) wer e calling each other Junbao & Tienbao and there were kung-fu kicks and antics for days to come -- not to mention how many times they wanted to watch it over and over again. You won't be sorry you rented this one!
Though some of the scenes are far fetched battles against entire batallions, the scenes are well choreographed. The bad guys always seem to have a way of rebounding, each time putting the good guys in greater danger. True tai chi wins in the end over villiany and romance.
I am waiting on this movie since almost 10 months, but yet I having get it, it still saying long wait, why is that , am I going to see this movie? what can you tell me.
