Sophomore writer/director Willard Carroll weaves together an all-star cast in interlocking stories about finding love in Los Angeles. The film's theme is spoken by young club-hopper Joan (Angelina Jolie). Taken by the mysterious Keenan (Ryan Phillippe), she tells him that "talking about love" is like "dancing about architecture" (the original title until the studio thought it would be confused with Dancing at Lughnasa), meaning speech is not the medium to adequately express the details of love. They all try, anyway. Others up for the dance include a TV cooking-show hostess (Gena Rowlands) and her husband (Sean Connery) who still fight over his one brief infidelity 25 years earlier; two lovers (Madeline Stowe, Anthony Edwards) who discuss their unhappy marriages; and a theater director (Gillian Anderson) and her architect, Mr. Right (Jon Stewart). Also searching are Dennis Quaid, Nastassja Kinski and Patricia Clarkson. For a familial sort of love, there's Ellen Burstyn as the estranged mother to her son (Jay Mohr) dying of AIDS. ~ Ron Wells, Rovi

I was really surprised with this film and the performances pulled by veteran and lesser-known actors. Funny, poignant, with a great ending - a modern romantic comedy! Definitely worth watching!

Excellent cast carries a separate set of plots to a uniting, and satisfying, conclusion.

This movie has so many excellent stars in it - that it had to be good. Angelina is a breath of fresh air (compared to her shootem up movies that she always seems to be in). Its a heartwarming tale about love, forgiveness and all relationships come together in the end. There is a twist at the end that you will never see coming. Guys may not enjoy as much as girls, can be a bit slow in the beginning but then everything comes together.

Not too good. Great actors are worth seeing but just that good. Like watching paint dry.

has great actors in it and quite the impressive cast, though it was dull and slow. a bit of a forced way to tie everything up in the end and tough it was interesting, thought it wasn't too realistic. relationship with jole and phillipe had fake dialogue that i fast forwarded through in the end. yuck.

Jon Stewart needs to keep his day job. Jay Mohr can now mark the gay role off his bucket list. Liked the ending but am not totally sure if the reason isn't because it was finally over.

Great cast (Ellen Burstyn is wonderful) / but fair script (at best). There are a few tears, a few yucks & a few surprises in the end but over all?..most nothing much. Not a bad movie but with a cast such as this it just could have been and should have been so much better.
