This Roger Vadim production was released in the US as ...And God Created Woman. Vadim's then-wife Brigitte Bardot plays the central character, a curvaceous nymphet with a voracious sexual appetite. In fact, it isn't what Bardot does in bed but what she might do that drives the three principal male characters (Curd Jurgens, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Christian Marquand) into an erotic frenzy. Most available prints of ...And God Created Woman have been heavily edited to conform with the prevailing censorial standards of 1957. Vadim remade his own film in 1987. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Don't waste your time and look for the original uncut version somewhere else.

I waited over 6 months to receive this movie and when I finally got to see it, I was utterly disappointed. Dont waste your time, it is not nearly what it portrays itself to be.

First saw this in a drive-in movie as a teenager. Seemed steamer then. I must be jaded now. Couldn't relate to or warm up to Bardot. Interesting as a study in the morals of certain people in the 50's.

I don't think Brigitte Bardot did as well in this film. She can dance well but, the acting I don't think she fit the part so well. The men did better I think in this film.

Only good thing about this movie is Brigitt Bardot. Otherwise, it's an ordinary French film.

This is a sample of movies that are dated. It might had been hot in the 50's but now is as tame as a kitty. It is really a waste.

This movie could have been shown on American TV at about 9 PM and wouldn't have offended anybody. At least it didn't interfere with the story :-) There were so many cuts in this picture, I think Chef Tony must have been behind it.

May appear silly by today's standards, but Brigitte Bardot opening scene - which is still sexy - was explosive in 57. The film portrays the struggles women have faced throughout history to have true freedom. While "Juliete" breaks the rules to explore her own sexuality, she is never free. If not under Dad's authority, she's under the authority of a religious order. Her ticket is a wealthy geezer who wants her for a toy. His wealth and age will keep her in line. In the end, a younger man - and seemingly better choice - slaps her into submission. He gets a hot chick who is bound to be better in bed than he is, and she, once again, is the property of another man who will protect her and hold her in line. Women can now breathe a sigh of relief that the threat is over.
