In an Australian outback town so small that children of all ages share a single classroom, teacher Sally (Rachel Ward) suffers the typical frustrations of life in the provinces. She really finds something to fret about when a gang of gun-toting, mask-wearing criminals kidnaps her and the students and drives them to the remote wilderness. With the kids' safety, perhaps survival, in the balance, Sally must appease the lewdly suggestive bandits while scheming for a way to escape their clutches. After several abortive attempts result in multiple deaths, she and the oldest children manage to usher the young ones to at least provisional safety. Free but stranded in a mountain hideaway, the class must band together to survive and perhaps turn the tables on the men who continue to hunt them. ~ Brian J. Dillard, Rovi

we were surprised that we liked this movie so much. it's not that good, but for whatever reason we just really got into it. there are a lot of choices made by the actors that just don't make any sense, but it is worth watching.

this movie was better back in the day. It moves slow, but is still a great story about the power that exists in us all no matter what size. How do you survive a tramatic ordeal? However you have to

I remember this movie as a kid. I liked it then and can appreciate it more now. I want to add it to my collection!

This movie is as others have said, more nostalgic than scary now. However, when I was 8 and had free HBO and they would show it all the time - the memory of it stayed with me until I'm now 34 trying to see it again! Those masks are terrifying and the situations are crazy. The end is worth it too.

Ward is good, as usual. Loved her in The Thornbirds, where she was outstanding. This movie, about a group having been kidnapped for an unknown reason, spend the entire time in a long hike through treacherous territory, led by their teacher. I would not call it high drama, although certainly a serious subject for outback Aussies, perhaps. See this if you like Ward, and a little tease of skin, and want to see what outback Australia looks like ( I suppose). Warning, Ward looks a bit gaunt in this movie.

I watched this when I was much younger. It seemed almost like an horror movie then... Watching in 2006 it wasn't what I thought. Still a decent survival movie with a few 'moments'

Saw the description and had some hopes it might be a sleeper. In this era where theres tons of ultra low budget cheapo films flooding the rental chains, that seem to feature the directors family and friends as actors and look like they were shot with camcorders its getting a two star rating from me. If this was compared to even the usual mediocre Hollywood B movie it would have been rated lower. Its low budget, looks a bit amateurish and has a bare bones plot. However in this era, compared to the horrifically awful ultra low budget camcorder specials, this get a few stars.

The premise sounded good. And that's about it! Within just a few minutes of viewing this movie I realized I had made a big mistake. The amateur acting, directing and writing was embarrassing. It sounded like a really bad T.V. movie from the 60's. I could not believe this was the same Ms. Ward from the film with Jeff Bridges! I just can not stand films where we, the audience is taken for granted and our intellect insulted, as when the heroine makes stupid choices that any idiot standing twenty miles away would see as dumb. Either way, stop, run the other way(like Ms. Ward should have done) and rent something worth your time and money! Leave this one behind in the horrible acting file!
