This pulse-pounding follow-up to Sergio Leone's A Fistful of Dollars brings back Clint Eastwood as the serape-clad, cigar-chewing "Man With No Name." Engaged in an ongoing battle with bounty hunter Col. Douglas Mortimer (Lee Van Cleef), the Man joins forces with his enemy to capture homicidal bandit Indio (Gian Maria Volontè). Both the Eastwood and Van Cleef characters are given understandable motivations for their bloodletting tendencies, something that was lacking in A Fistful of Dollars. In both films, however, the violence is raw and uninhibited -- and in many ways, curiously poetic. Leone's tense, tight close-ups, pregnant pauses, and significant silences have since been absorbed into the standard spaghetti Western lexicon; likewise, Ennio Morricone's haunting musical score has been endlessly imitated and parodied. For a Few Dollars More was originally titled Per Qualche Dollaro in Più; it would be followed by the last and best of the Man with No Name trilogy, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

A Fistfull of Dollars was openly based on Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo, but what fewer people realize is that For a Few Dollars More continued the same pattern by deriving from Kurosawa's Sanjuro. Both are available on BlockBuster and, while the Leone films are great the Kurosawa films with Toshiro Mifune are incredible! A lot of fun to watch them together and see where little "homages" have been placed in the movie, down to the way the main character's scratch themselves...

This movie is truly one of Sergio Leone's masterpieces. The story and characters are just awesome. Clint Eastwood is in top form for this one. This has to be one of the greatest westerns of all time! The humor in the movie is hilarious! The movie is slow moving, but it's definitely a thinkers film. Overall, a masterpiece on many levels, and one you sure don't want to miss. 9.8/10

A great story with great characters and lots of gunslinging violence. The three main characters (Eastwood, Van Cleef, and 'Indio') were all lots of fun to watch - during the action, yes, but also in their dialogue and in the story. The movie really establishes each one's story and reasons for being there, which makes the action and showdown parts all the better. That was a pleasant surprise for me. A few things in this movie will turn off some people: So much of this movie is influential to today's movies, that when we look at this movie, it seems cheesy in places. For example: the score, the sick and twisted villain, and the way Leone sets up some of his shots may all seem over-the-top by today's standards. The production values are also low. Other than that, Clint Eastwood is as bad arse as you could ever hope. For me, the best part of this movie might be the way Eastwood and Van Cleef's characters interact and form a strange bond.

close second to Tombstone as one of the best westerns of all time. Unforgetable music. Wicked glances and witty dialogue. Top it off with an truely original plot, this film is amazing and ahead of its time. the casting was incredible as well.

Ennio Morricone's score alone is worth putting this DVD in the player and cranking up the surround sound. This is a guy movie, no question, but it's way up on the list so if you haven't seen it yet on TV, you might as well view the full version on DVD.

I do not understand how this movie gets ranked higher than "The Good, the bad, and the ugly." I couldn't make it through half this movie. It was SO boring! It did not drag me into it, either with plot or characters or scenery or dialog or anything. I do not see how this rates 4 out of 5 stars! I had to turn it off less than halfway through. I don't know, maybe I didn't stick around long enough for it to get good. But if a movie can't get me interested within the first hour, they aren't going to get a 2nd.
