Amityville 3-D (1983)
Member Rating:
The third installment in the haunted-house saga discards any pretense of being based on actual events in order to provide the requisite cheap thrills sought by audiences during the short-lived 3-D revival of the early '80s. When a skeptical reporter (Tony Roberts) with a penchant for debunking phony psychic hoaxes moves into the Long Island house to disprove its nightmarish legend, he and his family are set upon by all manner of supernatural beasties. Many such manifestations leap wildly out at the screen to fully exploit the 3-D effect, making the cheap gags all too obvious in the "flattened" video and cable prints (often released under the title Amityville 3: The Demon). Remarkably violent for a PG-rated film (those with an intense fear of fire might want to fast-forward through Candy Clark's death scene), Amityville 3-D has a certain cheesy appeal for anyone who likes touring Halloween spook-houses. Look closely to spot a young Meg Ryan in a small doomed-teen role. This 3-D version was followed by even more sequels, including Amityville: The Evil Escapes, Amityville 1992: It's About Time, The Amityville Curse, and Amityville: A New Generation. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi

Blood: 0 Cheese Factor: 5 Acting: 2 Overall: 2 1/2 This movie was pretty slow paced but overall was an ok movie. Anyone whose seen the 'Amityville' series knows that they're not the most edge of your seat thrillers you've ever seen. But what shocked me was the first to were a solid 'R' rating and this was 'PG' NOT EVEN 'PG-13' so dont expect any blood or gore what-so-ever. Though it was kinda funny to see MEG RYAN and the Aunt from 'Full House' in this movie, musta been their first rolls. If you've seen the first two you might as well see this one, just dont expect too much.

I rented this one just want to experience the 3-d effect. This DVD is only for field-sequential field viewer. I used ColorCode3D player to see the movie. Apparently the 3-d effect is horrible. If you are looking for good 3-d effect movie, the high resolution 3-d is Spy Kids with anaglyph glasses.

I also rented this one just for the 3D experience. I saw no 3D effect with glasses on.. Actually the movie was better to watch without the glasses.

This was an Awful movie. Stopped watching it after 15 minutes. Shows minimal difference with or without the glasses. Not a True 3D movie.

I saw this in the theatre as a kid in the 80's and it was actually pretty cool because it was in 3-D and thats it. This DVD is not in 3-D. I tried with 3-D glasses and there was no effect. I think they just kept the 3-D in the title so it would sell? No real suspense here to even warrant a PG-13 rating. View it if your a fan of the series.

Entertaining in it's own right, but nowhere near the violence/creepiness of the first two Amittyvilles.
