Amityville II: The Possession (1982)
Member Rating:
Delving into the horrific history of the infamous Long Island haunted house, this prequel to 1979's popular chiller The Amityville Horror is loosely based on the DeFeo murders but is at heart a straightforward horror-exploitation film with an Exorcist twist. When the violently dysfunctional Montelli family moves into the rustic abode (claimed to have been built on an Indian burial ground), the standard haunted-house clichés (bleeding walls, swarms of flies, bubbling black goop) give way to a more direct demonic attack on the eldest son -- who develops an unhealthy interest in his nubile younger sister, followed by a much more lethal attraction to dad's shotgun. In a desperate attempt to purge the evil, the local priest tries to perform an exorcism...with unexpected results. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi

Scary and will Bring Back Some Feelings You May Have Had While Watching The Exorcist. Scarier then the First Amityville.

The scene where the brother gets his young teen sister to strip naked so he can pretend to photograph her and then have sex with her is worth the rent alone. LOL. Just kidding. This movie is horrible. That scene is in there, but it is the only creepy scene in the entire film. Take my advice and avoid any film with the name Amityville attached to the title -- even the recent remake.

This movie is scary and the music just adds to it. There is no gore in this movie. It's just a good, old fashioned haunted house movie.

This is by far the worst horror film I've seen. You'll laugh yourself silly watching this low budget flick. Poorly written and the acting is pathetic. A hoot and a half. Be forewarned: This is an OLD movie filmed in 1983 and just recently released to DVD. It should not be categorized as a new release. Beware!

The Possession is the prequel to the first Amityville and is no doubt in my mind the best of them. There are no barriers to this movie either. Probably for me one of the scariest moments I have ever seen came from this movie. A must see if you like the newer Amityville and have not seen the older movies.

I liked this movie. Might even be a little creepier and gorier than the first. The basement is pretty freaky.
