In this comedy, stockbroker Jon Aldrich (Tom Selleck) is the man who has it all, until his ill, aging parents (Don Ameche and Anne Jackson) move in with him. As his perfect life begins to disintegrate bit by bit, Jon becomes more and more depressed and disillusioned. Finally, broke and friendless, Jon begins to listen to his addled parents' insistence that he do away with them and use their insurance money to start again. ~ Iotis Erlewine, Rovi

I loved this movie and have for years. It appeals to all ages, but especially the elderly and those of us caring for them. It's laugh out loud comedy. Tom Selleck is great, Don Ameche at his finest. Whenever I have relatives visiting, this is one movie we sit and watch, and every one who watches it says, "Why have I never heard of this movie before? It was so funny." I'm so excited that it's available on DVD, that I ordered three...one for me and two for gifts for the parents and in-laws. If you want a clean, light hearted comedy that will leave your sides hurting and tears rolling down your eyes from laughing so hard, this is the movie for you!

You'll laugh hysterically at the refrigerated parents and Don Ameche saying "McDonnell's" every five minutes...You'll have to see it to believe it! It's great!

Be careful, I too thought this movie might be an overlooked gem. IT'S NOT! The premise starts off OK enough when Tom has to visit his parents in FLA. From there, it's cheap, moralistically vulgar and VERY VERY NOT funny at ALL. Flat, stiff, stale, dated, unsatisfying, irritating and SAD to all the good talent involved. Not even to be curious. DON'T DO IT PLEASE! Unless you're really, really curious to see how Selleck acts without his signature moustache, avoid this like the plague. And no...it was not heartwarming or a tearjerker..at least, I don't think it was...I had to eject it and FLING it back into its mailer like a FRISBEE.
