Flight of the Navigator (1986) Reviews

Flight of the Navigator (1986)
Member Rating:
The year is 1978: 12-year-old David Freeman (Joey Cramer), playing in the woods near his home, is knocked unconscious. He awakens and heads home, only to find strangers living there. He also finds that the year is 1986, and that he's been officially missing for eight years. NASA officials determine that David was abducted by aliens during his blackout, and hope to scan the boy's brain in order to unlock a few secrets of the universe. Answering the call of a strange, unseen force, David boards a well-hidden spaceship and takes off, guided by the jocular voice of a computer named MAX (voiced by none other than Paul Reubens, aka Pee-Wee Herman). Realizing that he can't fit in to 1986 so long as he's a child of the '70s, David hopes to retrace the steps of his alien abductors and get back to his own time. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Great Movie, brought back memories of the past time phrase 'see ya later Alagater' Movie not seen much on TV, Blockbuster's wide selection should include movies like this.

Great movie to watch over and over, you forget the little things in between viewings. My five year old adores this movie.

Though this movie is slow at times it is a childhood favorite. A story about a boy caught in a NASA coverup linking him to a spaceship that talks as though he has watched too much TV. All things considered, I gave this film a 5 star rating.

This is my all-time favorite movie! I live in Florida, so watching this movie is like watching my own backyard because it was filmed entirely in Florida. Even the spaceship used for this movie is still on display on Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. You can actually touch it! Anyway, this movie is about a boy who falls into a ravine to wake up 8 years later without aging, but why? This movie was made around the time of "E.T.," and, in the movie, one of the characters even says, "He just wanted to phone home," a reference to "E.T.," because "E.T." was (and still is) so big a movie. I have watched this movie easily over 100 times. I can recite every line, word-for-word. I am even writing up a sequel to this movie on my computer to hopefully send off to Disney. So, rent this movie. It is only an hour and a half. Sarah Jessica Parker (very young) is in it. Enjoy it. Hey, it's a Disney movie after all and it is great for the children. "See you later, Navigator!"

This was a childhood favorite of mine. I recently remembered it and gave it another watch and was truly shocked that it still held up after all these years. Really a neat movie, acting was actually pretty good. This is one of the few movies from my childhood I've went back and watched and not been embarrassed.

Good for what ir is but is aimed at the five to thirteen crowd. Gets a little goofy in the middle.

the first half of this movie plays on the eerie alien music with dark scenes in the misty woods...my 6 year old is NOT sensitive, but had me holding his hand during parts of it...which i would fast forward, then at night, had mom sleep with him to talk about reality of aliens. it's not all that "warm and cozy" disney. we had to stop in middle, so perhaps second half is all "feel good"...just know first half is dark (for a kid), as parents in movie age and kid in movie is mostly frightened.
