Set in a post-nuclear-holocaust future, this sci-fi western takes place in the frontier city of New Hope, the only place around with a working oil refinery. Ever since a megalomaniac general and his followers took over the place, life has been miserable. Then a stranger, a man-of-few-words, comes to town. A quick-drawing gunslinger, he first joins the conquerors. As time passes, however, it rapidly becomes apparent that he really sides with the townsfolk, and when the time is right, he leads them into a violent uprising. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
Really not a half bad flick, even if some of the stuff was a little hokey. Especially the final battle scene. I really want to see someone in real life shoot a .50 cal machine gun from the hip. And when it comes to the final showdown between the hero and the main bad guy, the hero, who shows repeatedly up till then and that he can shoot a fly in the ass at 100 meters, suddenly can't hit anything. These two guys must have fired two or thee hundred rounds at each other from 10 - 20 feet apart and never hit a thing. But then if either one of them got hit, we couldn't have the chase scene at the end, could we. Oh well, it is, after all, a movie. And probably one of the better of the post-apocalyptic movies out there.
An interesting 80's post apocalypse movie. now i know it was made in the 90's but it's definately styled after the 80's movies they even tried to throw in a smattering of the renegade movies. it's basically a cowboy movie set to post apocalypse scene. not bad if you love those cheesy one liner movies.
This Movie is an alright no brainer but comes off as a made for TV movie with fowl language. The imagery and much of the plot was basically a half assed mad max wannabe. If you want this kind of movie just watch the mad max movies there far better.
