Billionaire Charles Morse (Anthony Hopkins) accompanies his much-younger wife Mickey (Elle Macpherson) and a fashion photography team headed by Bob Green (Alec Baldwin) to a remote lodge in Alaska. Charles is a quiet, introspective man, fond of accumulating trivia and other facts in his encyclopedic mind; he is also troubled with the idea that Bob and Mickey may be lovers. Even though he suspects the younger man plans to kill him, Charles goes with Bob and his assistant Stephen (Harold Perrineau) on an airplane trip to find a photogenic friend (Gordon Tootoosis) of the lodge owner (L.Q. Jones), but the plane crashes in a lake, killing the pilot. The crash is miles from their planned path, so they can't expect to be spotted by an aerial search; there's only one chance: they have to walk to a more likely spot.Though Robert and Stephan are more physically fit, Charles' calm wit and ingenuity proves the key to their survival, especially after a ferocious bear brutally kills Stephen. Robert and Charles' odyssey becomes more urgent when they discover that the bear is now stalking them. ~ Bill Warren, Rovi

I give The Edge 3 out of 5 stars. I'm a big fan of Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin, and they both do a fine job of acting in this film. The story is good but the portrayal of bears and bear behavior is not totally realistic. A good film to watch, but understandable why is didn't win any awards.

I got this movie for my husband to watch, and I ended up watching it with him, lots of suspense and the actors did a great job. you will be on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

I liked watching parts of The Edge over and over...so amazing. A lesson in attitude is everything in survival. The human interest factor was thought provoking. And I wanted to poke Alec Baldwin (as would anyone); and so admired Anthony Hopkins. They were great. Love animals and the great outdoors. Breathtaking!

It was surprisingly good but not without its problems. I had a hard time getting into it at first--the beginning seemed kind of choppy and slow, but once the movie got underway, I enjoyed it. However, Anthony Hopkins' character was difficult to get into and I would have to say that Alec Baldwin's character seemed rather fake. The combined forces of the acting skills of these two actors finally overtook the weakness of the character development. Besides, does Anthony Hopkins ever make a bad movie? In the end, they took a "hard sell" of a plot and turned it into something I got caught up in.

For all the talent in 'The Edge' (Anthony Hopkins, Alec Baldwin) I have to say I was more then a little bit disappointed with it. It's not really a bad film, it just never resembles anything remotely original. Anthony Hopkins is good as always playing a powerful yet kind millionare stranded in the woods with his wife's photographer played by Alec Baldwin (who I felt really phoned in his performance). Also stranded with them is Baldwin's assistant played nicely by the funny Harold Perrineau. The three have to fight to stay alive while they look for a way out. There's some action, but not much. The film usually relies on the powerful emotional drama that because of the poor writing is few and far between. 'The Edge' makes for a so-so way to kill two hours. Film Grade: C

I am a huge Anthony Hopkins fan; however, I was disappointed in this movie. The plot was almost nonexistent, and Elle McPherson served absolutely no purpose in the movie.
