Made up to look like a septuagenarian, Henry Winkler plays Benedict Slade, a Scrooge-like miser living in a tiny New England town during the Depression. Slade goes Scrooge one further by repossessing items from a poor farm couple and an orphanage on Christmas eve. While reading a copy of Dickens' The Christmas Carol in his home, Slade is visited by his own set of Spirits Past, Present and Future, including his Hell-dwelling late business partner (Kenneth Pogue). Wonderful Movie :-) I love Christmas and when I seen this movie on TV I loved it. The following year I was so excited that it was on again, cause I could record it on the VCR we got the previous Christmas. Wow !! We bought the DVD and watch it during the year if down in the dumps...Watch it, Henry will give you a new outlook on life & people around you,,,,,,,

I have this on VHS and have been looking for this on DVD. If you love a Christmas Carol, this is another variation which won't disappoint you. I agree that it is probably not seen enough to be appreciated and therefore underrated.

What a wonderful movie! I had never seen this version before, but my husband had. It was done beautifully and to have it set during the depression made it even better.
