Violent City (1970)
Member Rating:
This Italian crime melodrama was originally released as Citta Violenta. Charles Bronson stars as Jeff, an ex-convict living in New Orleans. Understandably, Jeff trusts no one but his curvaceous girl friend Vanessa (Jill Ireland). She is stolen away from him by Weber (Telly Savalas), the man who framed him on a murder charge. Jeff goes gunning after Weber, only to discover that his real enemy is within his own circle of intimates. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Low budget, disjointed and predictable. Holes in the plot you could drive a truck through. Gratuitous skin shots of Jill Ireland the only thing that made it bearable.

A solid Bronson picture. It opens really great with an awesome car-chase, and while the rest of the movie doesn't live up to the opening, it's certainly an interesting watch. The movie is maybe 20-25 minutes too long, so it does drag towards the end, but has a really good closing scene.

If you like Bronson movies, do NOT view this one. They obviously ran low on money because half the "english" is in subtitles and they could not find a good writer for the plot and dialog. Altogether, a VERY POOR effort. If you must watch, after the opening credits, skip to the last five minutes ....... you won't miss anything of substance.
