A wealthy young man wants to wed a painfully ordinary girl, and a few hours with his family will convince anyone why he's doing so in this black comedy. Marty Pascal (Josh Hamilton) is engaged to marry Lesly (Tori Spelling), a dizzy blonde he met when she was working at a doughnut shop, and he bravely decides that it's time she met his family, so he brings her along for Thanksgiving dinner at his mother's house in West Virginia. Bravery is necessary because the Pascals are not an especially healthy or wholesome family. Mother (Genevieve Bujold) explains her philosophy about parenting like so: "You raise cattle; children just happen." In this environment, where refusing your child anything is all but unknown, her youngest son Anthony (Freddie Prinze, Jr.) has grown up to be an overanxious virgin eager to seduce Lesly while Marty's not paying attention. And Marty's twin sister Jackie (Parker Posey), malignily obsessed with Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, often re-enacts the murder of JFK using spaghetti sauce for blood (when she can't get ahold of real bullets) and enjoys incestuously seducing Marty (which hardly bothers Mother, who notes that "Jackie's hand was holding Marty's penis when they came out the womb"). The House of Yes was based on the play by Wendy MacLeod; first time director Mark S. Waters (brother of screenwriter Daniel Waters) also adapted the screenplay. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Of course, Parker Posey is fantastic in this. More surprising, though, is how much I enjoyed Tori Spelling in this film. She is not the most likeable character but then she really isn't supposed to be. This film is warped and I loved it...

This movie is dark and ambiguous, but I loved it. Parker Posey makes the movie. I was laughing at her character the whole film. This has become one of my favorite films because of its originality and her fantastic performance. Also, Freddie Prinze Jr. has a small part in the film, and he does a great job which finally proves that he can indeed act.

I really liked this movie. It is a very dark comedy and it's a bit creepy, but overall enjoyable. I thought the writing was great and Parker Posey is great in it.

The acting was only okay. I'm a big Parker Posey fan, but she overacted in this. The plot had no redeeming qualities, none of the characters were particularly sympathetic, and I was left with a very oogy feeling afterwards. Save your rental for another movie.

This movie was too dark and disturbing for my tastes. It was poorly acted, and te plot was just sick. o bill this as any sort of comedy is misleading. I would have billed it as one of those terrible films one is forced to watch in Psych class as an example of some disorder. The only laughter this film illicited at all was nervous laughter over the idea that some people would htink the sickest scenes were funny.

Never got past the first half hour: I didn't care about any of the characters from the start and the acting was so stylized it didn't hold my interest.--I do realize it was based on a play, but when plays are translated to film they can be done better than this. I never got to the "sick & twisted bits," thank goodness!

This was one of the most stupid movies I have seen. The only reason I rated it as high as I did is because the guy that had to make this movie with what was given him did a pretty good job. He would have to be like a sketch artist that sketches a picture by someone’s description and comes up with a perfect match. This movie isn’t really worth the time to rate except for the fact that I hope you don’t make the same mistake.

ha ha... it's dark and sick. I like it for the shock value and the movie deals with a pretty obscure subject. If you liked this one, I'd recommend Spanking the Monkey also... =D
