Professional weirdo Clint Howard plays one of his more interesting oppressed-geek roles in this occult revenge thriller about a tormented military-school nerd (apparently in his mid-thirties!) whose personal computer provides the only solace from the endless taunts and pranks of his fellow cadets. He also has an intense fascination with the occult, leading him to investigate an arcane tome secreted within an ancient, crumbling chapel. In an attempt to decipher the text, he feeds it into the computer, which translates the writings into actual working spells. As Clint's mind reels with the possibilities of sweet revenge against his cruel classmates and teachers, the demonic forces once trapped within the book begin to exert control over his mind and body. Before long, he is able to summon an army of snarling devil-pigs (no, that's not a misprint) to do his evil bidding. Though this is essentially a gender-bent rip-off of Carrie, there is enough in the way of spooky atmosphere and well-staged shocks to keep less discriminating horror fans interested. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi

If you are a Clint Howard afficianado (as many of us are), you will appreciate this often-overlooked gem. My advice is to skip the first 15 or so chapters on the DVD and just head right to the one called "Revenge" (or was it "Vengenance"?). You will be treated to Clint doing that sword-wielding/floating/all-bloody thing he does so well. It's easy to trace Clint's growth as a performer directly from this performance to Sy Lieberglot in Apollo 13 - one could not exist without the other. Brilliant. 5 stars - if there were more I would have given them.

WOW!!! I really wasn't expecting such gore! Decapitations! Split heads! Ripped out harts! Who knew an unpopular little film like this was so gory. I thank the UK for putting this gem in there video nasty list because otherwise I would never have found it. This is purely a good old 80's splatter fest with a story full of originality. the film features a young Clint Howard (brother of famous director Ron Howard) the film opens with a decapitation then slows down then gives us some more gore then slows down again and gives us more gore till the finally were Coopersmith gets his revenge. threw out the film he is constantly tormented by these bully first they take his hat and then brake his catapult and finally the last straw but I wont give it away but trust me when he snaps he takes awesome revenge and treats us all to some glorious gore!!!! Also you should watch the whole film and not just skip to the gore, it's childish.
